Thankfully, it was arranged for all the dogs to be removed and transported to temporary shelters in Canada. The dog meat farm came on HSI’s radar during this year’s Winter Olympics and planning to help shut down the facility began. 

 The organization reached an agreement with the farm owner who relinquished the dogs. The rescued dogs are now on their way to a better life! 

 Once at the temporary shelters, the animals will undergo health and behavior checkups then begin the search for their new homes. Adam Parascandola, Director of Animal Protection and Crisis Response at HSI, shared a live update of the process of removing the dogs from the farm. 

The video update featured one of the rescued dogs, Moon Bear, who was absolutely beside himself with excitement at being given attention and affection from his new friend. 

 Thanks to HSI, more than 80 dogs who had known nothing but freezing cold temperatures and short chains will start completely new lives. Although their fate seemed to be decided, the dogs are now saved and they will finally have the chance to have normal lives and loving homes. Source

Even so, when it comes to unlikely relationships the animal kingdom never cease to amaze. Speaking of it, Herman and Lundy is definitely a very unusual, yet extremely adorable duo! 

 Herman is a rescue pigeon that can’t fly and Lundy is a 10-week-old chihuahua who can’t walk, and their special relationship won everyone’s hearts. 

The two adorable creatures met at the The Mia Foundation – a non-profit in Rochester, New York, which rehabilitates animals with birth defects. Herman is a resident at the rescue center for over a year. Back then, the little one was found in car park, unable to fly or move. 

The wildlife rescuers said at the time he would stand a chance of survival, but Sue Rogers – the founder of The Mia Foundation, knew Herman would beat the odds. 

Unfortunately, he won’t be able to fly again, but that that doesn’t stop the tiny creature to be such an adorable presence and the center, where he’d be a permanent resident.

  When the two have first met it was love at first sight and Sue knew they would become best friends. 

“I took Herman out of his playpen to give him some time out and I put him in a dog bed,” Sue told WHEC TV. 

And since that moment, Herman and Lundy are inseparable and the special bond they share took the internet by storm, after Sue took some snaps of them together. “They just looked really cute together so I took some pictures,” she said. ” [I] posted them to Facebook and the next morning it was crazy.”

Sue’s post went absolutely viral with millions of people being absorbed by the adorable duo. More that, thanks to the popularity Herman and Lundy enjoyed a lot of kind-hearted people made donations for the rescue center. “Just from a simple picture of a pigeon and a puppy being shared, we’ve already brought in over $6,000 in donations,” Sue said.

Morris was scared at first, but soon after he met Champy the horse, Morris started to trust a little bit more his surroundings. They met one morning outside of Jennifer’s house.

  “I let Morris onto my front verandah after he’d had a few days to settle in and Champy was immediately interested in him, coming up to say hello and then persisted in wanting to groom Morris,” Jennifer explains. 

 Morris wasn’t attracted to Champy right away, but since Champy didn’t give up trying to make friends with him Morris just couldn’t resist for any longer. 

  “It was after Champy had been grooming Morris for about a week that Morris felt safe with him and jumped onto Champy’s back to start grooming him in return,” Jennifer added. They seem to have the best time together. 

They have been seen drinking water together, taking naps together, even going for horseback rides together. Meet Morris the cat and Champy the horse, the inseparable friends.

We’ve seen many stories of people braving harsh elements all to save a trapped pet. That was the case recently, when two police officers braved a freezing reservoir to save a stranded dog. The incident occurred in Aragon, eastern Spain, according to Reuters. Two police officers braved the icy waters, swimming out to rescue the dog. 

 It was no small task: the reservoir was visibly frozen, and the stripped-to-the-waist officers swam through chunks of ice to get to the helpless animal. 

The area reportedly experienced a cold front with heavy snow and high winds. But video shows the officers successfully reaching the dog, seemingly unfazed by the freezing cold. After getting a hold on the dog, they lead it back to the shore. 

 According to NewsOn6, the police officers say the dog had been in the water a “long time” before they received the report that morning. It is unclear if the dog was a stray or if it was someone’s pet, and where it was taken next. But the dog is now safe from the freezing water, thanks to the officers who braved the cold to save its life.
