Animal control staff pulled her off the street and tried to find out where she had come from. They managed to contact her owners, but they told them that they no longer needed Pickles and that she had been left in a shelter.

 They found this two-year-old pit bull pregnant and wandering the streets The pitbull’s labor was imminent, and her belly was so huge that she needed more help than the shelter could provide, but luckily she received help from Pits & Giggles Rescue, a non-profit organization that specializes in caring for pregnant dogs and their puppies.

 Although Mama Pickles’ belly was so huge that she had trouble walking, she kept jumping when she met her new rescue friends. 

 Her owners decided they no longer needed her Pits & Giggles Rescue volunteer and photographer Lauren Casteen Sykes explained their mission: 

“They specialize in mother rescues and care. They save mothers who are pregnant or nursing in shelters and provide the care they need to safely deliver or raise their pups. Before adoption, mothers and their puppies are spayed or neutered and the best possible home is found for them according to their personality and needs. Photographing these mothers and their puppies gives them the visibility they need to be adopted.” 

 So the rescuers took her. Lauren is the photographer for Enchanted Hills Photography and volunteers at Pits & Giggles Rescue to help them get adopted. 

“When Pits & Giggles called me and told me they had just brought in a super proud and happy mom, they explained that they wanted to take pictures to preserve those precious moments.” 

As soon as Pickles arrived, Lauren knew she had to do a maternity photo shoot, and of course, the result is the most adorable. Lauren Casteen Sykes (photographer and volunteer) decided that Mama Pickles needed a maternity photo shoot Everyone was delighted with Mama Pickles’ poses, as she looked like a diva. However, her huge belly kept getting in the way, which was very funny. 

“She’s quite a model. Her legs are too short for the catwalk, but she loved all the love and attention she got. The hardest part was getting her to stop licking us. She always wanted to be pampered and have her tummy scratched. She was so excited that she could barely sit still. Seeing Pickles sticking out her tongue, wagging her tail and being so happy was the most satisfying thing. I’m so grateful to the Pits & Giggles people for rescuing this sweet mama.” 

 Shortly after the first photo session, Mama Pickles gave birth to her puppies. Soon after, Mama Pickles gave birth to eight wonderful, healthy puppies, all of them female. So it was only natural to do another photo shoot with them. 

This time, Pickles looked even prouder with her newborns. Her caretakers say she is a good mother and takes good care of her little ones. So they did another photo shoot with them “You can tell she’s been used to breed repeatedly, and we’re happy to say this is her last litter.” In a few months, Mama Pickles and her 8 puppies will be ready to be put up for adoption and find homes. 

Until then, they live at the rescue center, where Lauren has been volunteering for 2 years: “It has not only been photo sessions, we have also had foster dogs and adopted them. Three years ago my husband Brad and I adopted our first rescued dog, his name is Remington Rose.

All after a rare, yet adorable footage shows these creatures could have dreams. But what’s more fascinating is the creature is changing its color whilst sleeping.  

The lovely video is part of the PBS documentary series ‘Octopus: Making Contact,’ which aired last month. And it shows an octopus named ‘Heidi,’ while sleeping in a water tank and within moments it starts to change its color. 

According to the marine biologist David Scheel at Alaska Pacific University, the animal is actually having dreams. “If she is dreaming, this is a dramatic moment,” Scheel said. “You could almost narrate the body changes and narrate the dream. She sees a crab and her color starts to change a little bit, then she turns all dark, octopuses will do that when they leave the bottom. This is a camouflage, like she’s just subdued a crab and she’s just going to sit there and eat it, and she doesn’t want anyone to notice her.”

 However, what’s quite incredible and almost unexplainable for the scientists is that the octopus’ mantle is a very sensitive part of its body. 

And thanks to the creature’s multiple brains, there is a highly precise control over the skin color changing. 

So is very rare for the octopuses to use it while sleeping. “It’s a very unusual behavior to see the color come and go on her mantle like that, just to be able to see all the different color patterns flashing one after the other, you don’t normally see that when an animal’s sleeping,” Scheel said. 

“This really is fascinating!” Until the marine scientist will be able to find an explanation for the rare phenomenon, there’s nothing we ca do, but admire the lovely footage:

The 30-year-old female spent her entire life in a circus, before she got rescued and brought at the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai. Lonely most of her life, the elephant receives the warmest welcome by the herd at the sanctuary. 

The heartwarming moment was caught on camera! Ploy Thong has the saddest story, but fortunately all came to an end, when volunteers from the Save Elephant Foundation rescued her. 

For decades, the gentle giant carried tourists on her back on the streets of the Pattaya region in Thailand. All against her will. 

Thankfully, everything of these is part of the past, because now Ploy Thong is a resident of this caring sanctuary.

Shortly after her arrival, one scene in particular was beautiful to behold – the moment the herd at the sanctuary welcomes the resident. 

Completely blind, Ploy Thong started to send low vibration, in order to let the rest of the elephants know of her presence. 

What happens next is one of the most emotional scenes I ever seen! The entire herd approaches to give the rescued elephant a bit of their endless compassion. “Both eyes blind, she transported tourists every day,” staff from the Save Elephant Foundation said. 

“Every day she was saddled early, and carried riders until the sun set. She used her trunk to sniff the way while the tourist rode on her back. [But] her journey to freedom begins.” 

 It only took a few minutes, until Ploy Thong realized she ended up in a place where she found the love and comfort she never had.

But when this comes from a 9-year-old boy, it’s nothing short of inspiring! Certainly, the most kids at this age spend their pocket money on things like cookies or sweets, but Ken Amante decided to use his for a noble cause – procuring food for the helpless stray dogs that live in his neighborhood in Philippines. 

Fortunately, the kid’s gesture didn’t go unnoticed and after his incredible story went viral, lots of people worldwide wanted to share a bit of their kindness with this little hero. 

Massive donations have been raised and the 9-year-old’s dream came true as he managed to open a shelter for all those hapless animals. Very kind and modest by his nature, initially no one knew about Ken’s activity. 

However, after noticing his son leaves the house with a back full of food – almost everyday – his father followed him one day, but only to have his heart melted upon the sight he came across, a few streets away. 

His baby was surrounded by a group of stray dogs, all wiggling their tails, waiting for their human friend to share them food. The proud dad took a photo of his son and later shared it on Reddit. And there’s where everything begun! “My son has been feeding stray dogs in the neighborhood for about two weeks now,” the man wrote. “Today I tagged along.” It didn’t take too long until the heartwarming story made waves across the Internet and Ken became famous for his kindness. 

He received a lot of support from animal advocates all over the world and thankfully, shortly after he even opened a shelter – The Happy Animals Club. “I always loved animals, even when I was young. I was fond of them even when I was small,” the boy told HNGN. I was fond of them even when I was small. 

My parents told me that before I could even talk, I was already sleeping with my dad’s cat, Hajime-kun. Asked about the shelter he founded, Ken said that was his dream since he was just a little baby boy. “I want to save as many of those dogs as I can from suffering for no reason,” he explained for METRO.

 Since 2014, when opened, Ken’s shelter rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of animals. They also provide meals for all stray animals in the neighborhood. What a hero this little fella is!
