It was a sunny day, so the street was far from empty, but the majestic feline did not seem to be bothered at all. 

On contrary, she even struck for some stunning poses while she quietly kept her way. Naturally, an unusual sight like this could only turn heads of everyone. Shyda ForeverFriends
“Honestly, he didn’t care about anyone around,” Burton said. “There were people riding bikes past him. He was in his own world enjoying the sunshine.” 

 Just like the passersby, Burton could not believed her eyes when realizing a lynx was actually strutting down her street. Thankfully she find the nerve to take her cellphone and grab some snaps of the beautiful kitten. Shyda ForeverFriends
“I have never seen one in real life, ever,” the woman told THE DODO. 

Apparently lynx sights are pretty common among the Kamloops residents, with several reports this year, already.

Owls are nature’s best rodent control, here’s how to make them feel at home in your yard. Owls can serve as all-natural pest control for American farmers and homeowners alike, if we welcome them onto our property… and don’t poison them. 

  Research shows the percentage of owl carcasses containing rodenticide increased 10-fold between 1983 and 2006, to 63%. It only takes eating three mice containing the poison Brodifacoum within a couple of weeks to kill an owl. 

They die slowly, from internal bleeding, over a period of 1 to 3 weeks. Instead of killing these helpful creatures, we should be making our homes, gardens and farms more accommodating for them so they can provide non-toxic, all natural pest control for us. All they need is food, shelter, and water and owls will make any place their home. 

 Voles, rats, mice, skunks, and other varmints looking for a midnight snack, will think twice about coming out of their holes to feast on your flower bed and crops, when these predators start swooping down from the night sky to devour them. The average owl eats over 1000 mice per year. If you’re lucky enough to have barn owls, this species hunts in small groups and, together, can eat hundreds of rodents per night. 

 Not only do they eliminate pests, but they do so with little cost or effort on your part. Along with keeping rodents in check, owls coexist peacefully with other birds nearby. Because they hunt at night and sleep during the day, other birds will hardly notice they’re there. 

 In order to attract owls, you might consider a bird feeder outside of your house. Mice like to go after seeds that fall on the ground below, luring them into the owls’ path. Mice also like untouched wood and brush piles. All of these places are prime spots for owls to circle in on their prey. 

 Just make sure to plug up any holes around your house, so they don’t make their way into your pantry or cupboard. While owls get most of their water from their prey, having a bird bath for them to indulge in will make their stay a little more comfortable. 

 Owls prefer shaded, secluded areas to rest during the day. Hollowed out trees with branches they can perch on make ideal habitats. So do man-made nesting boxes. By providing a place where owls can feel safe sleeping all day, you are much more likely to be successful in attracting these predators.

But when this is your daily routine, that might be a bit too much. Well, that’s how this lazy kangaroo is spending his days. 

Everybody, meet Rufus, the most spoiled joey in the world. Now over 4-year-old, Rufus’ life wasn’t always like that. Rescued when he was eight-month-old, the kangaroo ended at the Patch Kangaroo Sanctuary in Boston, South Australia. 

 Fortunately, here he found all the love and comfort he ever needed , in Kym Haywood and her husband Neil – the ones who run the sanctuary. Both the caring couple, and the rescued kangaroo, became extremely attached to each other, so Kym and Neil decided to keep Rufus inside their house. 

Now, he acts like owns the place, or at least the couch. Rufus loves to spend his days laying on the comfortable sofa, and to cuddle with his dad. But both Neil and Kym, soon realized the sofa might not be big enough for all of them. 

In fact Rufus wants it all for himself, and for his dad sometimes. Because from time to time he asks him for some belly rubs, and Neil gladly deliver it. “When he started doing it we thought it was the cutest thing ever and we could see that Rufus was very different to the others and how much he loved the couch and how safe he felt there,” Kym explained.

 “He goes into the deepest sleep as he knows he is very safe there and doesn’t mind watching a bit of TV, as well.” 

 However, the Haywoods don’t even mind there’s no more space for them on the couch. The most important for them is to see Rufus if feeling comfortable and happy!

Time and again we’ve seen stories of everyday pet owners putting themselves in danger if it means saving their friend’s life (and pets do the same for their owners). 

 Like one 74-year-old woman who faced down an alligator to save her beloved golden retriever. According to the Palm Beach Post, Suzan Marciano, from Boca Raton, Florida, was walking her dog Nalu near a lake on the evening of August 24. 

 After playing fetch, the two were enjoying the lake, with the golden retriever chest-deep in the water. But Suzan recalls her “heart dropped” when she saw a dark spot in the water creeping towards her dog.

 It was an alligator, more than six feet long, and in an instant it had Nalu in its jaws. Without thinking, the senior woman jumped into action to get her dog free. “I did the only thing I could do. I came down on the alligator with all my weight,” she told the Palm Beach Post. 

 The gator released Nalu — but soon turned its attention on Suzan, chomping down on her hand. “It was all one big blur. I was in such shock. I didn’t feel any pain,” she recalls. 

 Both Suzan and Nalu survived the ordeal, but both had puncture wounds that required hospital visits. Suzan received five stitches on her hand, and Nalu underwent a two-hour surgery for wounds on her stomach and thigh. 

 They were also both left “traumatized” by the ordeal, and Suzan says she was afraid to go back to the park for weeks: “I was still seeing the shadow with two eyes looking up from out of the water. That image kept coming back to me,” she told the Palm Beach Post. According to the Post, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission investigated the site in response to the incident but could not find any alligators in the lake. 

A spokesperson said their program “proactively address alligator threats.” What a scary incident. While both Suzan and Nalu were left with some injuries and trauma, we’re glad they both survived the ordeal.

 It goes to show how fearless pet owners can be when their dogs are in danger.
