Animal Aid Unlimited in India shared this wonderful video of a recent rescue. They came across a mother dog who was crying out in anguish, seeming to beg for help for her badly wounded baby.

"She didn't stop trying desperately to communicate as we gently lifted her puppy who had two deep wounds and placed him in the ambulance. We couldn't bring her along because she had 4 other babies to watch over," the rescue organization said.

The wounds were so bad he couldn't walk for several days and they weren't sure if the nerve damage was going to be permanent. But Toggle was comforted and loved throughout the days of his healing and he made a full recovery.

Dogs Trust rehoming center in Basildon, England, has recognized the efforts of Maisie Green for knitting and donating approximately 450 blankets and sweaters for the dogs at the shelter over the years.

89-year-old Maisie Green’s favorite hobby is knitting, and she has a deep love for dogs, too, which is why she has been knitting blankets and coats for abandoned and stray dogs at the Dogs Trust shelter. According to a volunteer at the shelter, it takes her three days to knit a blanket and one day to make a coat. She knits while watching TV and then several times a year, Maisie Green and her family visit the shelter to drop off her donations.

Dogs Trust has been working for 128 years taking care of stray and abandoned dogs. They run 20 rehoming centers across the UK and one in Ireland, and organize fundraising events and many other activities to make sure all the dogs under their care stay happy and comfortable.
According to the Dogs Trust Facebook page, they are the largest dog welfare charity in the United Kingdom. Their mission is to give the best care to all the dogs, bring them back to a healthy condition and then find them a forever home. They don’t support putting down healthy dogs and whenever dogs can’t be rehomed, they take care of them and provide all their needs.

Rescue dogs waiting for a forever home at Dogs Trust couldn’t be happier to have these coats and blankets keeping them warm and cozy during cold winter days.



In a year, Dogs Trust takes in over 16,000 abandoned dogs. Dogs Trust accepts donations, more volunteers, and some more Maisies who can give warm clothing and love to the dogs in their care.



Maisie's family chips in and helps her make her donations by driving her to the shelter. She's made three donations in a year, each time toting dozens of sweaters and cozy blankets for the dogs. Dogs Trust frequently updates their Instagram (@dogstrust) with photos of the various adoptable looking paws-itively adorable in their cozy sweaters or snuggled up nice and warm under a wool blanket.

Instead of throwing out that frayed bath towel or old bedsheets, pack them up and bring them to your local animal shelter. These can be used as beds for dogs so they don't sleep on cold concrete floors. Many puppies and kittens also find the softness of a towel or blanket comforting in the absence of their mothers and littermates.

IKEA donated doll beds to a cat shelter in Canada, and now we can’t get enough of seeing them sleeping on their brand new beds.
IKEA’s doll-sized beds weren’t originally meant for cats, in fact they do have a set of more traditional products dedicated to pets, but since their doll beds are just the perfect size for kitties, our furry friends at the Etobicoke Humane Society in Ontario, Canada, no longer need to sleep on the cold, hard floor during the winter.

“Our floors are easy to clean but not terribly comfortable to lay on,” the Etobicoke Humane Society wrote on their Facebook page. IKEA donated the shelter 10 Duktig doll beds, enough to fill the kitten room, along with a $300 contribution.
The Etobicoke Humane Society has been around for more than 25 years. They aim to protect, care for and improve the welfare of animals under their care, and they are a 100% volunteer run, no-kill shelter. You can check out their Instagram for photos of animals at their shelter.

IKEA does not sell cat beds or any pet furniture.


However, people recently discovered and shared photos of them converting the doll beds as beds for their pets.
IKEA donated 10 Duktig Doll beds to the Etobicoke Humane Society in Ontario, Canada.
The doll beds come with a bed linen set and are made of pine wood.
Just the perfect size for cats to curl in!


The cats at the shelter don’t need to sleep on the cold, hard floor anymore.
Look at them… snug as a bug!
While the Duktig doll beds in this case have been used for kittens, they might be also perfect for other small-sized pets, like puppies and bunnies.

Mama, a 59-year-old chimpanzee and the matriarch of a famous chimpanzee colony was gravely ill. In this touching video, she was unable to eat and sensed she was coming to the end of her life when she is visited by her old caretaker and lifelong friend. The result is one of the most emotional and heart-breaking moments I’ve ever seen between animal and human.

When the Royal Zoo in Arnhem, the Netherlands reached out to her old caretaker, Jan van Hooff, who is emeritus professor behavioral biology at Utrecht University and co-founder of the Burgers colony, he immediately came to see her.

Van Hooff has known Mama since 1972 and he saw her a week before she died of old age in April of 2016. It took a while before she became aware of Jan’s presence, but his voice and touch reawakens something in her, and the reaction she has at the moment she recognizes him is one you will want to see.

If anyone has any doubts as to the ability of chimps to show emotional connections, this should put any doubts to rest.
