Little Boy Gets The Flu And Only Wants His Rescue Dog To Comfort Him

Rescue Dogs Rock NYC came to the aid of a dog named Riddick in 2015, after he had been thrown out of a moving vehicle.

He was given some time to heal, got put up for adoption – and it wasn’t long until Bryan Junior and his wife found his picture on Facebook and fell in love.

They adopted Riddick in August of that year, quickly becoming an important part of the family.

About a year after Riddick was adopted, his parents had a human baby boy of their own.

And from the minute that Dawson arrived home, both Riddick and the other family’s pit bull, Cambria, became obsessed with him.

Junior said to The Dodo, “We would call them the paw patrol. If the baby cried, the two of them would come running inside to check on him. Every time he woke up from a nap we would say, ‘Baby Dawson is awake,’ and they would run in. They sit with us every night to this day when we read him a bedtime story, Cambria usually on my lap and Riddick on the floor. Dawson kisses them both good night and we put him to bed.”

The feeling is mutual as Dawson is equally as obsessed with his canine siblings as they are with him – and the little boy loves to climb all over them, cuddle with them and feed them whenever he gets the chance.

Earlier this year, Dawson got sick with the flu. It was his first time ever being really sick. The poor boy felt miserable as he was running his fever, so it made sense that he wanted absolutely nothing to do with anyone – except for Riddick.

“He crawled up onto the ottoman with Riddick and was just holding him,” Junior said. “You could tell Riddick knew he wasn’t feeling well and laid with him. He [Dawson] tossed and turned a bit and about 30 minutes later passed out cold for over an hour. Riddick never moved.”

Riddick was the only one Dawson wanted to comfort him while he sick. And of course, the dog was only more than happy to help. No matter what Dawson needs, Riddick is by his side, and his parents are only happy to see how sweet and protective Riddick is with Dawson.

“Riddick is the most well-tempered, chill dog you could ask for,” Junior said. “He’s just gentle, loving and tolerant of anything. Everyone loves Riddick. He’s just the pup you always wish for.”

Once Dawson was feeling better a few days later, he was back to normal – running around and playing with his two favorite dogs. And Riddick will no doubt be there by his side in sickness and in health, watching over him the way only a dog can.

Μassive humpback whale bursting through the sea next to fishing boat

Nature is truly a wonderful thing. Our world is filled with a stunningly diverse array of creatures, from tiny mice to gigantic whales.

Whales in particular trigger a certain wonder in humans, so much so that whale watching has become a favorite tourist activity around the world.

Recently, a humpback whale gave workers on a fishing vessel the show of a lifetime.

Humpback whales are a type of baleen whale that can grow to an incredible 52 feet in length. Humpback whales can be found swimming in oceans around the world at different times of the year. During the summer, they spend their time in higher latitude areas, like the Gulf of Alaska and the Gulf of Maine. In the Winter, they swim to warmer waters near the equator. Humpbacks live year round in the Arabian sea.

In 1988, humpback whales were listed as endangered, but populations have since recovered to approximately 60,000 whales.

Humpbacks are known for a behavior called breaching, which is where they propel themselves out of the water and then come back down, creating an enormous splash. Some believe that whales breach in order to remove parasites and other debris, but you have to admit, when you see them doing it it looks like a lot of fun! Breaching could also be associated with mating, dominance, health, or other social behaviors.
Recently, fishers at work in Monteray Bay, California were treated to an incredible sight: a breaching humpback whale incredibly near to their fishing vessel. The video and associated photographs captured the moment the whale shot up out of the sea.

“The whale is huge! If I’d been the fisherman, I’d probably need some new underwear,” remarked Douglas Craft, the photographer who captured the moment. What’s perhaps most stunning is just how small the boat looks compared to the whale.

“I went below deck to shoot from a porthole close to the water line. That’s what gives this amazing perspective of looking up at the whale,” said Craft.

With Craft was Kate Cummings, a whale watcher, who took footage of the whale breaching.

“It was fun capturing this video,” Cummings said. “The whale had already breached multiple times much further away from the fisherman. But sometimes when whales breach multiple times, they’re also heading a specific direction when they’re underwater building momentum for the next breach.”

“I figured the next breach would be around the fisherman because the whale was heading that way and sure enough! Though I didn’t expect the whale and the boat to line up so perfectly.”

Unwanted Puppy Left Absolutely Heartbroken After Being ‘Thrown In Bin’ The Day After Christmas

Sadly these days, there’s a lot wrong in the world, and one stellar example of that is a tiny puppy abandoned on Boxing Day.

In a cruel and twisted turn of events, a heartless person decided to get rid of their adorable dog on the most unlikely of days. But in this day and age when it seems like everything ends up being exposed on social media, this person’s sick actions are not going unnoticed.

“December the 26th AKA Wednesday started like every other day, usual chaos, usual 100 phone calls and messages, and then the dreaded I found a puppy message came. A small cute puppy had been found in the bin, not unusual here, but always more upsetting knowing he was an unwanted gift!” PetPals said in a post.

‘I collected the pup, and off we went to the vets, Barry Basura as he had been christened, is just four weeks old, small, innocent, and doesn’t understand what the hell is going on. Usual vets checks done, entry photo taken, popped up on FB sating the usual not up for adoption, more of a yippee the first of many posts.

‘OMFG…. fast forward 48 hours…… over 633,000 people have seen the post, over 3.5K of shares, and 2500 comments… not all constructive, in fact very few constructive comments. Don’t get me wrong the sharing the page is fantastic, the PM’s from people wanting to adopt other dogs is fantastic, BUT the trolls, god give me strength.’

They added:

I was criticised for publishing the puppy as he was not up for adoption, I was slated for calling the puppy Basura which according to one mortified lady “means bin in Spanish” yes dear I know, that was sort of the point. this went on and on, like a dripping tap all day… moan, bitch, whinge.

Thankfully there were some great comments, some intelligent PM’s and some genuine interest in what I do. Sadly out of the 633,000 people that clicked on the post, 27 donated towards my vets bill, yep its creeping up again. But hey cannot have it all. So thanks Barry Basura for causing a stir, and getting people on the page, but come on guys calm down it is only a puppy!
