He Was At The Pier To Scatter His Grandmother’s Ashes And Ended Up Saving A Drowning Dog

Raden Soemawinata was having a difficult day. He had got to the Brighton pier in Melbourne, Australia to scatter his grandmother’s ashes in the bay.

It is an event that many of us can relate to and a sad time in his life. Something happened while he was there, however, that really turned the day around in an amazing way.

As he was saying goodbye to a life that was special to him, he had the chance to save a life. It was at the time when he was still at the pier that a tiny Maltese-shih tzu ended up in the water.

His name is Bibi and he was so tiny that the strong winds coming across the bay pushed him off of the pier and right into the water.

His owner, Sue Drummond, was in a panic, fearing that her darling little dog would drown.
Soemawinata didn’t hesitate. He stripped off his excess clothing and jumped into the water wearing only his underwear and a shirt.

Drummond watched with others who had now gathered to see what would happen.
Bibi was struggling in the water but Soemawinata was able to snatch him up and bring him back to the pier. He was rewarded with a big hug from Drummond, who was overjoyed to have her little friend back and safe.

She probably never imagined that this could have happened but one thing is certain. She won’t be at the pier with Bibi any longer without holding on tight.
If Soemawinata had not been there, things would have probably turned out very differently.

Bibi is a tiny dog and she may not have made it back to safety again.
Soemawinata is now being called a hero and it was more than being at the right place, at the right time. He also saw something and took action.

His quick thinking saved a life and made one dog owner very, very happy.
