Some adorable scenes at the Novosibirsk Zoo, one of the largest zoos in Russia. After becoming a mother for the second time, Gerda and her lovely baby get the chance to enjoy the snow for the first time together.
While the patient mother had been through many winters, for the little cub is the first snow encounter. Needless to mention it loves it!
In the first months after birth, polar bear cubs are extremely helpless, so they rely on their moms 100%. The mother and the cubs not even leave the den, until the little ones are strong enough.
In this particular situation, the cub is already a few months old, so the stuff allowed it and its mom to get some fresh air.
Although strong enough to play in the snow, the cub will still have to stay alongside its mom for a few more months.
The cub’s dad, Kay is not allowed, yet, around the baby nor the mother. His reactions may be pretty unpredictable, so the staff take no risks.
Cautious at first upon seeing so much snow, the curious cub immediately started to explore the surroundings. Under the supervision of its mom, of course!
