The artist Yulia Derevschikova lives in Khabarovsk, Russia and makes beautiful felt wool animals that look like something out of a Disney movie. Yulia started this artistic work in 2015 and has already created more than 100 adorable creatures.
The artist employs a felted wool technique, which is not the same as wool felt, which is a completely different technique, but that appears very similar.
Basically, the first involves threading and weaving, and the second one does not. The felted wool technique increases the fluffiness of the wool, and translates into a soft, fluffy texture, which works so nicely in creating these adorable tiny balls of fluff.
Yulia has a gift for making animals of the woods, as well as other exotic creatures, with this felted wool.
She certainly has an eye for spotting beauty, and that’s why her works of art have a unique touch. Each animal requires great dedication as it can take up to 20 hours to complete.
