This Labrador Fostered 9 Orphaned Ducklings And He Is Now An Internet Celebrity

Every type of dog has positive qualities but there are certain dog breeds that just seem to ooze love from every pore. That is the case with Labrador Retrievers and if you have ever had one in your life, you realize just how sweet and caring they can be.

If you have not ever interacted with a Labrador, you might just be amazed at what this 10-year-old lab from Mountfitchet Castle in Stansted, UK just did. If you have had a lab in your life, you will know in your heart that your lab would have done the same thing.

I would like to introduce you to Fred. He is a Labrador retriever that has recently gained a lot of Internet attention because he became a father. He didn’t become a father to other labradors but rather, to 9 orphaned ducklings.

You see, their mother had disappeared last week and the ducklings were left on their own. The staff at the Castle was concerned about their welfare but Fred took it upon himself to look over them.

These nine ducklings hitch a ride on Fred’s back and he watches over them as they swim in the moat. When they can, they also snuggle up with Fred on the lawn and take a nap.

Fred’s human said that “They absolutely adore him and he has now resigned himself to being a stay-at-home dad looking after the nine baby ducklings.”

It is hoped that Fred continues to provide this loving care for just a few more weeks. By that time, the ducks will be able to go off on their own and begin their life on the Castle grounds.
