When enough is enough, it’s time to bring in the cats. Racist graffiti has become a scourge of Manchester, England, and tighting it has been an uphill battle. 

India is the country that everybody has to experience. There are more reasons to visit this magical country starting from extraordinary cuisine to mind-blowing history, culture, and sacred temples, and there’s one mind-blowing reason, a statue of an eagle that brings an old myth back to life created by a famous filmmaker Rajiv Anchal.


The bird is 200 feet long, 150 feet wide, and 70 feet tall, and it’s body doubles as a roof for the Earth Center’s building making this work of art a functional one. It comes as no surprise that this incredible structure took Anchal and his team 10 years to complete. It’s a sculpture that features meticulous details you wouldn’t expect at such a large scale, including individually decorated and layered feathers. It is located near Kerala, and Jatayu Earth Centre became one of the best places to visit while traveling around India.

We often think that photography is all about capturing the weight of a serious moment. The fateful second a cheetah springs toward its prey or the shivering arctic fox curling up to stay alive. Well, sometimes we just need photography that makes us laugh.

That’s where the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards come in. Founded by professional photographers and conservationists Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, the competition seeks to promote wildlife conservation in a fun, engaging way and show animals in anthropomorphic comedic moments, from a turtle flipping off the camera to a parakeet seemingly saying, “Talk to the hand.”

Winners of the contest will be announced on October 22 at an online awards ceremony. Until then, here are 11 of the 44 selected finalists to tide you over.

You have to see the hilarious expressions and mannerisms of these bizarre little creatures


Praying mantises are always a strange sight, with their strange posture and their frozen stillness, but photographer Pang Way captures them in their funniest moments.


His specialty in close-up insect photography reveals a whole new level of weirdness in the lives of these slow-moving, alien-eyed creatures.



They’re known as the most fearsome predators in the world, preying on other insects, lizards, frogs, fishes, small birds, and even each other, with the females known to sometimes bite the males’ heads off during mating.


But you’d never guess these little guys were so gruesome based on their hilarious facial expressions and poses they strike for the camera.


They come in all varieties of colors and patterns, some with wings and some without.


Seeing one can be considered good luck or bad, depending on which culture you’re from. In many cultures they are a reminder to be still and meditate.


“Because of the “praying” hands, some Christians say that the praying mantis represents spiritualism or piety, and if found in your home, may mean that angels are watching over you. Some Muslims say that the praying mantis is always facing toward Mecca. However, in Italy, some believe that if a praying mantis looks at you menacingly, it can make you sick, and in Japan, it may even be a foretelling of your death,” reports the Durango Herald.

Beautiful, Giant, And Nearly Frozen Waves Are Captured On Camera By Nantucket Photographer

Photographer Jonathan Nimerfroh found himself staring at an ocean full of Slurpee. The waters of the Atlantic Ocean looked like it due to the unusually cold temperatures that were making it freeze. Lakes freeze every year, but oceans freezing is a rare sight.

The photographer/surfer/ocean enthusiast set out to capture the beauty of this rare event. While the partially-frozen waves churned and hit the shore, they appeared to be made out of something thicker than water. Jonathan describes the sight as follows, “The wind was howling from the southwest which would typically make rough or choppy conditions, not so good for surfing. But since the surface of the sea was frozen slush, the wind did not change the shape. They were perfect dreamy slush waves.” The pictures below show this bizarre phenomenon.

They were a strange, thick consistency.


His photo series “Slurpee Waves” is breathtaking.


The unusual look of the waves comes from the shifts in the water and air temperature.


When he took these photos, the temperature in Nantucket was 19°F.


In “Stay Wild Magazine,” he talked about the day he took the photos: “Just been super cold here. The harbor to the mainland is frozen solid … The day after I took these it actually froze up the shoreline for 200 yards out.”


Jonathan is “obsessed with the ocean,” and, in addition to his sea-centric photography, is an avid surfer.

We all try to do our bit with recycling, one man has taken it to the next level, creating spectacular sculptures that depict an array of fantasy creatures, such as trolls giants and even a big bad wolf. Though there is nothing to be scared of, quite the opposite, as they really depict a bigger story about how important it is to re-use materials, and what can be achieved by doing so.

It is the hard work of Danish artist Thomas Dambo, who managed to create these massive structures using merely leftover construction materials and scrap wood. He has even blended them seamlessly into the environments in which they were built, such as ‘Troels the Troll’ who despite is unsightly appearance is actually holding onto a swing. Even better is the detail added to certain sculptures like the troll, which has living plants has its fantastic green hair. It showcases just what can be done using recycled materials, particularly in an artistic fashion.



I’ve made all the sculptures from recycled wood. Mainly from 600 old pallets, an old wooden shed, a fence, and whatever else I was able to scavenge. Every sculpture was made with help from local volunteers, and each of the sculptures was named after one of the volunteers.
I hope my art will inspire people to see the big potential in recycling and taking better care of our planet.”
