Footage shows the staffer curled up with Prissy, a four-year-old hound mix, who was abandoned in hot weather in a junkyard in Tennessee with her three puppies. 

 Prissy was taken in by Conway Area Humane Society in New Hampshire and spayed and the clip reveals how, touchingly, kennel supervisor Chrissy Ireland was determined to help her recover. Virginia Moore, the executive director of the shelter, told MailOnline that being spayed ‘can be traumatic and disorientating for dogs’ and that Ireland ‘felt compelled to comfort Prissy’. 

She didn’t want her to wake up alone, she added. 

 The video, which was shot by co-worker Debra Cameron and posted to the shelter’s Facebook page on July 16, has been viewed over 80,000 times and shows Ireland stroking Prissy tenderly as she stirs from her sleep. Moore said that Ireland, along with the rest of the staff, is ‘prone to laying down with the animals’, and that the video was posted to Facebook to show that shelters are great places for dogs to be.

 Like one state trooper, who recently helped find a forever home for three stray puppies after finding them on duty. The story comes from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

 Trooper Susan Barge responded to a hit-and-run crash on Saturday when she noticed three puppies under the porch of a nearby home.

  The trooper sensed that the puppies were in need of help. The temperature was set to drop into the 30s that night, and Barge knew that the dogs would be suffering in the cold. 

 So, she stepped in to help. She spoke with the homeowners, and agreed to take the puppies herself and help find homes for them.

  The trooper’s actions went above-and-beyond the line of duty: she never expected to find the puppies and they were unrelated to the call she was responding to, but she still did it out of the kindness of her heart. 

 And thankfully, the story has a very happy ending: FHP reports that all three puppies have now been adopted into “furever families.” Trooper Barge’s good deed received praise from people online. 

  “Such Beautiful Story, &Wonderful Ending!” one comment reads. 

“Thank you for being their voice and stepping in when other humans would have clearly failed them,” another reads. 

  “Precious pups, I’m so glad you found furever homes for them. Thank you for your service.”

 Turns out, inside the nest were three little baby squirrels that seemed just a few days old. As an animal lover, Michael knew he had to help the little guys but knowing very little about baby squirrels, he turned to the internet to try and see how he could help. 

Turns out, the best shot baby squirrels have at surviving is by being near their mothers but after the storm, Michael had not seen any adult squirrels around. However, he wanted to help as much as he could, as he knew perhaps he wasn’t best suited to provide the care needed for them, and he embarked on the mission to place the nest back on the three to see if the mother would return. 

  “I placed the remaining dry material from their nest into a small box,” Keida said. “I added some soft cotton fabric to add warmth and then closed the box loosely so that the mom could easily enter, but so that the nest would be secure.” 

Knowing the mother might not come around if he was there, he stepped away for a while and upon returning, he noticed the squirrel mom had returned and was moving the baby squirrels to another nest. Yay!

 Like one man, who saved a dog who ended up in his truck. Thanks to his keen eye, the dog narrowly avoided a terrible fate. 

 According to the Capital Area Humane Society, in Michigan, an employee from Granger Waste Services was on his route in the early morning of July 19, when he realized he had someone unexpected in his truck. It isn’t clear how exactly she ended up in the garbage collection, but the route was for commercial-grade dumpsters, which means the dog had quite an ordeal before being found. 

“It is almost unbelievable that she endured being transferred from a dumpster, into a garbage truck, and then, endured the journey and the unloading process,” Capital Area Humane Society wrote on Facebook. 

The dog went through a lot, but would’ve had it a lot worse if the employee hadn’t spotted her, like ending up in the trash compactor: “Without his keen eye, she would have certainly suffered a horrific fate,” the Humane Society wrote.

  Thankfully, the dog is now in stable condition, and Ingham County Animal Control is investigating the case. The Capital Area Humane Society says that because there is still an open cruelty investigation, the dog will not be put up for adoption yet, and will remain in protective custody. 

 But while the investigation is underway and many questions remain unanswered, everyone agrees that the driver who saved this dog is a true hero — and the humane society says they’ve gotten plenty of surprising requests about him, too. 

  “For those of you who have shown interest in the Granger employee, he is not available for adoption either,” they joked.
