 That’s what one dog proved, when he jumped into action to save a baby deer who was out in the middle of a lake. Ralph Dorn, a retired Marine Corps pilot from Virginia, is the owner of a Goldendoodle named Harley. 

On June 2, they were outside at the lake near their home, and suddenly Ralph couldn’t find his dog anywhere. Then, he noticed Harley was in the water, paddling himself out to the middle of the lake: Facebook/Ralph Dorn
But looking closer, Ralph realized that Harley wasn’t alone — and he realized the inspiring reason the dog was in the water. Out in the middle of the lake was a baby deer, struggling to get back to shore. Harley had gone to rescue it, and after reaching the stranded animal began guiding the fawn back to dry land. “Not sure how the fawn got out there but Harley obviously didn’t ask why, he just jumped into action,” Ralph wrote on Facebook. The two made it back to shore. Ralph said that the deer’s mom came back for it. He was very proud of his heroic dog. 

 Even back on land, Harley kept protecting the deer: “Harley didn’t want to leave the fawn,” Ralph told People. “He just kept interacting with it, licking it, caring for it.” 

 But it turns out, Harley and the deer kept in touch. The next morning, Ralph noticed that Harley was restless, and looked out his front door… and saw the fawn, there to see Harley again. 

  “The little one stopped bleating, tail wagging, they touched noses sniffed each other and Harley came calmly back to the house with me,” Ralph wrote. Facebook/Ralph Dorn
They had a brief, touching reunion, as if the deer wanted to stop by and thank Harley again for saving its life. 

The deer then walked off with its mother again. Harley’s story has now gone viral: Ralph’s Facebook post recounting the story has been shared over 253,000 times. 

Ralph says he’s happy the story has moved so many people, but Harley’s act of heroism didn’t surprise him. He says that Harley is a therapy dog who has worked with the elderly and children.

 The police officer called her “callous”. She called what he did “abusive”, but when the woman who admitted to leaving her dog in a hot car called a news station to complain, she ended up with a dose of karma instead. KOB News investigated what happened and after the woman asked the news channel to look into her complaint against the officer, saying that he forced her to sit in the hot car she had left her dog in.

 Officer Vincent Kreischer noticed a dog inside a parked truck at a grocery store’s parking lot in Truth or Consequence, New Mexico, with the temperatures outside of over 90 degrees Fahrenheit and confronted the owner. 

 The woman told him she only left the dog for 10 minutes, and began to argue with him about how hot it really was. But Officer Kreischer estimated that inside the vehicle would be 114 degrees after that length of time. 

 When he confronted her, he says she shrugged it off with a laugh and was “callous and carefree” about her dog’s welfare. That’s when he took action. He decided to write her a ticket, and asked her to wait in her car is since, according to her, it wasn’t that hot. 

  “You can wait in the truck and close the door you know, since it’s not that hot,” he responded. He observed, “She gives me an attitude from word one, and then she doesn’t want to close the door.

 The weasel is a species of mustelid distributed from southern Canada throughout all the United States and Mexico, southward through all of Central America and into northern South America. The long-tailed weasel is the product of a process begun 5–7 million years ago, when northern forests were replaced by open grassland, thus prompting an explosive evolution of small, burrowing rodents.

 The long-tailed weasel's ancestors were larger than the current form, and underwent a reduction in size to exploit the new food source. 

The long-tailed weasel arose in North America 2 million years ago, shortly before the stoat evolved as its mirror image in Eurasia. 

 The species thrived during the Ice Age, as its small size and long body allowed it to easily operate beneath snow, as well as hunt in burrows. 

 The long-tailed weasel's growth rate is rapid, as by the age of three weeks, the kits are well furred, can crawl outside the nest and eat meat. At this time, the kits weigh 21–27 grams. 

At five weeks of age, the kit's eyes open, and the young become physically active and vocal. 

 Weaning begins at this stage, with the kits emerging from the nest and accompanying the mother in hunting trips a week later.
