What do you do when a moose shows up at your front door after a snowstorm? Complain about the weather, of course. That’s what photographer Sandra Forbes did over the weekend when a young female moose came knocking at her home in Bearspaw, Alta. She captured the very “Canadian” moment on video. 

  “Is there too much snow this morning for you? Yeah, me too,” she said to the snow-covered moose. Forbes said the animal is far from shy, and often comes by to visit with her mother and brother. 

  “She has quickly learned that the seeds are kept in a tub by my kitchen door. A couple of times I have forgotten to close it and she has eaten a lot of peanuts.” According to Forbes, urban development in the area has cut into wildlife habitat. 

  "Here in Bearspaw we have a unique population of moose that live among the acreage. My four acres are some of the few wooded areas left." 

 The young moose often visits Forbes along with her mother and brother. She said the animal is far from shy. "We have a safety plan for the kids when they walk to the school bus in the morning," she said. "My yard is a safe spot where they feel comfortable. 

We don't bother them and my dog does not bark at or harass them. We are very fortunate to have a great wildlife experience."

As the incredible photos show, the sea other gives the tiny shark a big hug. But marine experts are unsure it was an embrace, or the otter were was trying to have its meal. Nonetheless, the moment is astonishing! Though during their feeding sea otters dive and bring marine creature above the water to better enjoy their meals, this is the first time ever an otter is bringing a shark on the surface of the water, because – as it was known – shark are not part of these furry mammals’ menu. 

That’s makes the moment even more intrigued. “If you watch sea otters long enough you will see a reasonable sample of bottom-dwelling sea life brought to the surface out of hunger or curiosity,” Sea Otter Savvy, which initially shared the snaps, wrote. 

“We are not sure which was the case here but these ‘jaw-dropping’ images are the first known record of a ‘foraging-like’ interaction between a sea otter and this creature.” While the otter’s true intentions regarding this little shark, might never be known, the pair eventually parted their ways after a few moments of cuddling! “To my knowledge (and a group of colleagues), this is the first documented horn shark capture by a sea otter,” Michael D. Harris of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, said. 

“There are reports of sea otters capturing skates and rays, but this is the first report of a shark. Sea otters will feed on fish, but it’s a very rare observation in California…but it is really is hard to say what the otter was doing with it.”

 Lorraine Culloch, 38, from Arbroath, Scotland had been on the way to Channory Point with her partner Mike Robertson, when they noticed a fin sticking out of the water at Nigg, Ross-shire. But after looking through her telephoto lens, Lorraine was shocked to find that the fin belonged to a dolphin that had become stranded by the outgoing tide. 

 Although still alive, Lorraine and Mike realised the dolphin was in danger and phoned the police to help get the Scottish SPCA and the British Divers Marine Life Rescue out to save the stranded dolphin. Upon closer examination, the dolphin was a bottlenose named Spirtle, four. 

 The dramatic rescue took a total of 10 hours since the rescuers were required to wait for the tide to go back out before they were able to release Spirtle back into deeper waters. Lorraine said: “After the vet assessed that Spirtle would be well enough to rescue, the divers and rescue team soaked towels and covered her with seaweed to keep her wet. “Apart from some blistering, Spirtle had no visible injuries and had been seen out swimming with her pod just days before.

 “At 4am when the tide eventually came in, the rescue teams got her onto a floating pontoon and walked her into the deepest part of the bay where they massaged her body. Source

 Footage shows the staffer curled up with Prissy, a four-year-old hound mix, who was abandoned in hot weather in a junkyard in Tennessee with her three puppies. 

 Prissy was taken in by Conway Area Humane Society in New Hampshire and spayed and the clip reveals how, touchingly, kennel supervisor Chrissy Ireland was determined to help her recover. Virginia Moore, the executive director of the shelter, told MailOnline that being spayed ‘can be traumatic and disorientating for dogs’ and that Ireland ‘felt compelled to comfort Prissy’. 

She didn’t want her to wake up alone, she added. 

 The video, which was shot by co-worker Debra Cameron and posted to the shelter’s Facebook page on July 16, has been viewed over 80,000 times and shows Ireland stroking Prissy tenderly as she stirs from her sleep. Moore said that Ireland, along with the rest of the staff, is ‘prone to laying down with the animals’, and that the video was posted to Facebook to show that shelters are great places for dogs to be.
