It turns out, they’re also a very compassionate species, and know how to help a human in danger. That’s what one great ape proved after lending a stranger a “helping hand.” Anil Prabhakar is a nature photographer from Indonesia. In 2019, he was moved after learning about the struggles of orangutans, who are endangered due to habitat loss and poaching. 

According to The Dodo, he received a tour from an organization called the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. He hoped to learn more about the species, and hopefully capture some photographs as well.

Another danger to orangutans is venomous snakes, and while on the safari Prabhakar watched as a warden stepped up to clear the area of snakes to protect the apes. 

But while doing so, the man got stuck in the mud — and that’s when Prabhakar witnessed a truly incredible sight: an orangutan reached out a hand to help the man get free.

Prabhakar made sure to get a photo of the inspiring sight. “I saw an orangutan come very close to him and just offer him his hand,” he told CNN. “I never expected something like that… I just grabbed that moment. It was really emotional.” “I’m so happy that moment happened to me,” he added. 

Despite the sweet gesture, the man stuck in the mud did not accept the orangutan’s help. According to The Dodo, it was his duty to be a “lifeguard” to the animals and not interfere with them, plus the orangutan’s strong grip might’ve done more harm than good. 

“The warden just moved away. I asked him why later and he said: ‘It’s a wild animal, not one we are familiar with,'” Prabhakar told Bored Panda. Still, it was an inspiring sight, and just the kind of moment Prabhakar hoped to capture in his expedition: a photo that moves people to help this endangered species.

The photo has gone viral, with many people agreeing that it shows how orangutans are just as kind and compassionate as people are — perhaps even more so. 

“Once humanity dies in mankind, sometimes animals are guiding us back to our basics,” the photographer captioned his photo on Instagram. “We’re very happy to see the positive responses people give to this picture,” Jamartin Sihite, the chief executive officer of the BOSF, told The Jakarta Post.

The bonds forged between various children and their huge canine companions are captured in 100 gorgeous pictures by the 58-year-old photographer within his book titled “Little Kids and Their Big Dogs.” 

Andy’s love for Great Danes shines through in his pictures and the variety of other large breeds is breathtaking to behold. 

“I always take plenty of time with the dog who’s in front of my camera so I get to know the personality of my dog model the best I can. The personality and the character is unique for every individual dog. The human aspects we often recognize in our dogs are, among other things, what makes us feel so close to them. And it is this aspect I try to express in my photography.”

Known as the world’s most famous conservationist, Mr. Aspinall runs The Aspinall Foundation The organization plays a big role in the gorilla’s species protection. 

Their job is to help reintroduce captive gorillas back into their natural habitats by taking them from a Howletts Wild Animal Park in England, where they’re bred, and transporting them to their massive reserve in Africa, Little Things reports. So Mr. Aspinall have seen hundreds of gorillas released into the wild. However, one of them will always be into his heart. 

The businessman raised a a zoo-bred lowland gorilla, named Kwibi since he was five. Then, in 2005 Kwibi was released into the forests of Gabon (West Africa) where he belongs. The time passed by and there were almost five years since Kwibi and Aspinall have seen each other. So, the man decided to pay a visit to his old friend. 

Kwibi would be 10 years old now and much more stronger. Therefore, Aspinall was a bit worried about how he would react when he would see him again. 

After hours of search into the jungle, they finally spot Kwibi. And you won’t believe your eyes when you see the gorilla’s reaction though.

A volunteer from the All For Blue organization, Tania Drakou, is next to the young Zifios, the "Savior" as they called him who gives battle to stay alive and she sings to him!

  Apparently it is quite injured. According to information, it had been in the shallows since yesterday, however, they had managed to push it in deeper waters again so that it could be released. 

Today, however, it came out in the shallows again. The professor of Marine Biology, Dr. Koutsoubas said these dormitory animals bump into ship propellers. 

He noted that he appears to have been seriously injured and usually these cases do not end well. He added that the animal is not dangerous at all and is one of the protected species.
