“I have a small team of several close people who have been working with me for several years and have become my closest friends,” Serhii Oliinyk, owner of Cat Cafe Lviv, told The Dodo. 

“The cats have also gotten used to these people, who help to take care of them and who play with them when there are few guests, because our fluffy residents love people's attention.” The cafe is home to 20 cats who love to greet visitors and hang out with them while they enjoy a meal or just relax for a while. 

It’s been a safe haven for the people of Lviv, a place where they can come to forget the stresses of life and just play with cats who are always so happy to see them. Many Ukrainians are currently fleeing the country in light of the Russian invasion, but not Oliinyk. He and his family are staying at the cafe. 

“Our cats have been living in [the] cat cafe since the age of 4 months,” Oliinyk said. “They are like family. 

We realized that we would never leave our country, that this was the only place where we could see ourselves in the future.” Despite the invasion and all of the uncertainty, the Cat Cafe Lviv has decided to stay open. 

They’ll continue to provide a safe space for people to stop by and say hi to the cats, which is something that the people of Ukraine may need now more than ever. The cats at the Cat Cafe Lviv are a part of Oliinyk’s family, so they’re staying together, no matter what.

Afraid the goat would be too weak to survive after giving birth, she had a bright idea that would save the mother and her newborn. 

Bilgin waited until the goat gave birth before returning with two backpacks: One for herself and the other for her dog. Using the backpacks, Bilgin and her dog carried the goat and its baby up the mountain, back to their home. 

After the story went viral, Bilgin said, “The snow was so thick, I was exhausted. But it was worth it.”

Though many of us, cannot even imagine how it is to live far away from the busy city life we all got used to, there are still so many people who peacefully live their lives off the grid, far deep in the wilderness. Such an example is Seppo Laamanen, a 65-year-old man who lives alone in his cozy house in the woods of Finland. Although alone, Seppo has never felt lonely, because he always found great friends in the animals that live next to his step door. But above all, there is an otter with whom he shares the greatest bond. 

Now, not a single day goes by without Seppo being visited by his four-legged friend. A visit the old man can’t wait for, every morning! It all started a few winters ago. Back in the day, Seppo was surprised to found the tiny animal on his porch, begging for food. It was extremely cold outside, and with the lake nearly entirely frozen, it was almost impossible for the little otter to find something to hunt. 

A kind hearted man, Seppo offered some fish to his unusual visitor, which it gladly taken it, by the way. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. 

One that went famous online, after someone decided to spread the news about these two companions. Now, the friendly otter feel itself like home into Seppo’s house, and the elder man is more than happy have it there. 

Now, with the winter around the corner, Seppo makes sure he has some extra food in his pantry, just in case his otter friend decides to bring over some of his furry friends, as well.
