Man Throws Himself Into Ice Cold Water to Save Crying Dog from Drowning

Don Chatten was walking his two rescue dogs at Ellicott Creek Dog Park when one of his dogs stopped just under the bridge, looking strange and refusing to move.

Don decided to follow along. Not soon after, he heard a faint whimpering coming from the creek.

Don was aware that there was a missing dog in the area so he went to check whether he could find him there. Sure enough, he did find a dog, stranded by freezing water on all sides. Don yelled out to the passerby visitors of the park to call 911, but then again he knew that by the time help arrived, the little pooch would probably not make it. So, he had to act fast!

Without hesitation, Don decided to go in and save the dog himself. He broke the ice with his forearm, and went waist-deep into the icy waters on the rescue mission. He then managed to hold the dog near his chest and crawl back to the shore as fast as possible.

The dog, named Jackson, was a Terrier mix breed. As soon as the pair was out of the water, the dog was taken to the vet to check if everything was okay.

Vets claimed that Jackson was with them there alive and well because of Don’s heroic behavior and fast thinking. The dog’s owner too was really happy to reunite with his little family member.

Locals are praising Don for his heroic behavior but he claims that it was all the dog’s deed for it was the dog who cried for help, having sensed danger.

We wish there were more Dons out there in the world to help animals in need.

This kitty gravestone will hit you right in the feels

Cats have a way of leaving paw prints on our hearts. So, when they have to leave us, it can take a toll. This kitty gravestone is incredibly touching.

“On my way up the Massachusetts. Had to stop en route to take a photo of the finest cat’s grave I know of,” Paul Koudounaris shared on Instagram.

It reads: “Dewey, 1898-1910. He was only a cat, but he was human enough to be a great comfort in hours of loneliness and pain.”

The internet has since poured with their love for our feline friends.

“Cats are not dogs in the sense of “mans best friend”. They don’t fetch or open fridges and bring you a beer. But they can still be the shoulder to cry on. And when you feel alone and lost, just jumping on my lap laying down and purring can be comforting. Look into a cats eyes that you raised and cared for and loved as much as any human and you will see the same love and trust they have for you,” shared Verypoorman on reddit.

633 Divers Cleanup 1.5 Tons of Trash From Ocean Floor in Florida, Breaking Guinness World Record

Volunteer divers just pulled 3200 pounds of garbage off the ocean floor of Florida’s Deerfield Beach. Imagine if we had cleanup efforts like this all over the world!

The waters around Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier are a lot cleaner after 633 divers spent just two hours scouring the ocean floor for garbage.

All together they removed an estimated 3200 pounds – more than one and a half tons – of trash.

That included 1,600 pounds of lead fishing weights and 60 pounds of fishing line, diver RJ Harper told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The rest still needs to be sorted and weighed.

It was the 15th cleanup of its kind on this beach, but the first time it had set a record.

Last year’s annual cleanup removed 1,000 pounds of lead weights, 161 pounds of fishing line, 104 pounds of metal, 52 pounds of wood, and 102 pounds of miscellaneous debris, totalling more than 1,400 pounds

The previous world record was set by 614 divers cleaning up trash from the floor of the Red Sea in Egypt.

Japanese Flying Squirrels Are Probably The Cutest Animals On Earth

To anyone who thinks that flying squirrels actually fly – Wrong! They have membranes that are located between their front and back legs which allow them to glide!

They have been known to travel over 100 meters to escape from a predator or to just reach their next tree!

That said, these Japanese and Siberian squirrels are just about as cute and plump as anything on earth! These squirrels are only found in Japan and Europe from the Baltic Sea to the Pacific coast.

They are in a unique category of Old World Flying Squirrels. These squirrels do not hibernate but during the winter months, they can sleep up to days on end!
