Their urban forest project will involve planting nearly a half million trees on a 46-mile perimeter (75-km) around the city. When the trees have reached maturity, they should absorb around 175,000 tons of CO2 per year. Black pine, beech, Spanish juniper and various oak species can all be found in the arid middle of Spain wherein lies the Spanish capital, and it is these native trees which require little water or specialized soil conditions that will constitute the new forest. 

  “What we want to do is to improve the air quality in the whole city, to fight the ‘heat island’ effect that is happening inside the city, to absorb the greenhouse emissions generated by the city, and to connect all the existing forest masses that already exist around the city,” Mariano Fuentes told Euronews. 

 As Madrid’s councilor for the environment and urban development, Fuentes explained that for cities that belch three-quarters of all human-caused CO2, which tend to absorb much more heat and poor air than surrounding countryside, methods for combating climate change and general environmental degradation need to be varied. 

  “It has to be a global strategy,” added Fuentes. “It’s not only about cars, but also a pedestrianization strategy, the creation of environmental corridors in every district… and most of all… to engage citizens in this new green culture, it is essential for every city to face the near future in the best conditions.”

Experts assured reporters that “it’s not a park,” but certainly for nature-loving Madrileños, it will be a place of respite, shade, and bird habitat that will work night and day to absorb excess heat and clean the air of the European mega-city.

 The story began last year when this naughty doggy jumped into the car of Bill Shaver, who had forgotten to close the back door of the car when he rushed to the bathroom at a gas station. 

 Although his wife was sitting in the front of the car, the dog quickly climbed up and curled up in the back seat as if she knew the woman all her life. The couple was returning from a fishing trip in the state of Missouri. They decided to make a stop and that’s when the dog appeared. 

When they noticed that she was not thinking of getting off and was approaching to be petted, they decided to take her to a vet. The doctors bathed and examined her, where they told the family that the animal showed signs of struggle and wounds caused by the presence of ticks and other infections, indicating that it clearly had no other owners or had run away from home. The couple decided to give her all the support she needed to recover her health, so they drove her home. 

She quickly adapted and began to play in the yard because she was already determined to stay with them. 

The couple adopted her and named her River. River now enjoys a life full of friends, love and pampering, something she undoubtedly always deserved. Source

As if that wasn’t enough, they really liked their lawn and decided to spend the day there. The youngsters were trying out everything and when they decided the area was safe, they huddled together and took a nap. At one point, their mother fed them. 

Rydstrom photographed the family from inside their house, and when they left, he uploaded the photos to the internet. They went viral right away, showing that people needed to see something so innocent and adorable in these difficult times. When Rydstrom saw the moose and raised the blinds to get a better look, the animals didn’t even notice. 

“I went to get the Flat Stanley my cousins sent me from Iowa. I promised them and their school that I would take a picture of Flat Stanley with the moose in my yard, but in the three months that I had been working at home, I wasn’t home when the moose came, which is very common. I’d even taken it on excursions, but so far I hadn’t had any luck with pictures of moose.” 

  “I took the pictures of the moose with Flat Stanley, and a few without him, and then I went to work. I really thought the moose would go away at some point, but every time I looked, they were still there. I could see them directly from my work area. I was very distracted and had fun while editing videos of my work, with the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra. 

During the day, while the moose changed places, or took walks, I went back to the window or looked out the door to take more pictures of them. They didn’t listen to me most of the time (although their ears were up most of the time, so they were obviously alert)”. The moose were in the Rydstrom garden most of the day, from before 9 am until almost 7 pm. 

If he had made videos earlier, you would have seen that the particular mother was breathing heavily. They needed to rest, and I think they found it safe to do so here in our yard.” Rydstrom was right not to go out and take pictures of the moose family that visited him. They’re usually not aggressive, but they can become incredibly dangerous when provoked. A female moose will not think twice about attacking a person if she thinks they are threatening her young. “As the elk family came and went from the garden, they nibbled on plants, and in the case of the young ones, on patio furniture and garden decorations, and on the neighbor too, just like babies, putting everything in their mouths. 

In fact, the neighbor started turning the decorative garden lights on and off, trying to scare the youngsters, who were trying to eat a light bulb, afraid that the glass in their mouth would break and they would hurt themselves.” Source

It is actually up to us as individuals if we make ourselves trustworthy. The same goes for animals who know the people they can trust. 

Their behavior towards us is a guide on how to react towards them in return. A mother cow named Freser has just given birth to her first and last baby calf, and she is very grateful to Ismael who helped her during the birth process. Due to unstable health conditions, Freser faced difficulties while giving birth. Ismael assured Freser and did his best to put her at ease through the process. 

 Freser repays his help through affection and kissing him. When the birth process was over, Freser started to cry. Yes, believe it or not, the mother cow kept crying, tears falling on the sides of her face. At that time, her health did not show any improvements. Freser’s condition was particularly weak after giving birth to her daughter, Savi. She could no longer stand up after giving birth. Even during the birth process, the doctor could not find any bleeding. 

He noticed that Freser was having trouble during the process so he had to reach into her uterus to pull out the calf, still noticing that there was no bleeding. Freser started to cry, maybe she knew there was something wrong. After the baby came and was safe, Freser kept kissing Ismael, as though she was expressing her gratitude. 

“Take good care of my daughter, trust you!” This was her final “goodbye.” She was transferred to another place, leaving her daughter, Savi, and Ismael behind. 

 Freser was assured that little Savi will be well cared for by Ismael. The next day, after giving birth, Freser passed away. She was at peace. From then on, Ishmael kept his promise to Freser. Ishmael now takes good care of Savi, along with other cows and bulls at Fundacion Santuario Gaia (Gaia Sanctuary Foundation).
