Yes, yes we have all seen the ridges and kettle holes but this is quite something you would not expect. There is about a kilometer long walk from the nearest point where you can leave your car. We walk through some wet areas so rubber boots or something waterproof for you feet is recommended. 

After crossing a clumsy looking bridge made out some branches the path finally takes some higher ground and your feet will be safe or dry at least. We are arriving into a regular looking forest with absolutely no hints of anything special. After a while of walking it hits us by a surprise even though we had already seen the pictures beforehand. 

And there it is, a massive rock standing on its own pedestal. It is not even that common to come across to a rock this size not to talk about it balancing on another rock. 

It seems that you’ll be able to flip it over anytime, but not even 10 000 years have done it. Another interesting thing is that the rock beneath the other one is almost perfectly smoothened out. It looks like something you would expect to see by the sea or somewhere in the middle of great rapids, but here in the middle of the forest it just looks like it doesnt belong in here. 

I’m pretty confident this is something quite unique even in larger scale. It is something you won’t come across in any other place in Finland and I doubt to find something like this anywhere. 

This such a peculiar rock, and that’s exactly what it’s called here in Finland: Kummakivi.

The comment section brought up an important issue, though—the captivity of these animals. We don’t think wild animals should be kept in captivity, even though it is acceptable in some situations like in the name of protecting endangered species.

Six adult Western Lowland Gorillas reside at the Calgary Zoo, and with the birth of this infant, we are one step closer to saving the gorillas. 

The natural gorilla population has fallen by 80% during the previous 30 years, according to Calgary Zoo.

The crowd was enthralled and also moved by the notion that these animals are kept in zoos. A user stated that animals should be left in the wild. 

Another respondent countered that zoos are safer environments for wild and endangered animals. They would be harmed by poachers if they were creatures left to be in the wild. Zoos have breeding programs and are committed to research and conservation to prevent species extinction.

Without zoos, species like California condors, Red wolves, oryx, Hellbenders, and Okapi would become extinct. Through the Calgary zoo’s efforts to care for and nourish the gorillas, the Western Lowland Gorilla species finally has a chance to survive. 

Sometimes, they are better off protected in exchange for their freedom so they can survive. We are hoping that they regain their population, and maybe someday, they can be released into the wild again. SOURCE: YOUTUBE - VIRALHOG
We were astonished by the once-in-a-lifetime experience that was the Simba moment. It only goes to show that a mother’s love and pride go across all types of creatures, human or not. 

With a mother’s love such as this, we hope that the baby gorilla will grow up to be a strong and healthy creature so it can help furtherly save their species. It’s a full circle!

Signs of malnutrition were obvious as she weighed no more than 30 pounds, which should be the weight of a three months old cub, but she was almost nine. Really concerned about Aasha’s extremely poor condition, Vicky tried to find out what happened to her. “I asked how could a 9-month-old tiger be that small,” she told The Dodo. 

It turned out that the poor tiger cub was part of a traveling circus. And because she was kept in a cage with a larger animal, she wasn’t allowed to eat. More than that, she got a skin infection called ringworm, but the lack of proper care only made the things even worst. So Vicky decided to take Aasha away and to take care of her. 

Therefore, she was taken to an isolated enclosure at In-Sync Exotics, the Dodo reported. “Aasha’s bald spots covered almost her entire body and her skin was dry [with] cracked, darken areas and bleeding,” Vicky said. 

“Every day, twice a day, I would go in and give Aasha medications and spend time with her. I knew I was going to have to handle her in order to get her well.” And after only a few weeks of proper treatment, the things never looked better for the wild kitten. “After eight weeks of treatments you could see little bits of fuzz growing back to [what once] bald spots,” the kind-hearted Vicky said. However, it took almost eight months until Aasha made an incredible recovery. 

“Within eight months she looked like a real tiger, and it was time to see how she would react to other tigers,” Vicky also said. And right now she’s unrecognizable!

They are commonly seen across the state, but rarely on the median of a busy highway. Idaho State Police (ISP) received multiple calls from concerned commuters on I-84 in Nampa about a Great Horned Owl trapped in plastic.

  Dispatchers called wildlife rescue, Animals in Distress, for help and sent Sgt. Brandalyn Crapo to the scene. 

“Traffic is very heavy on that stretch of freeway and the owl had reportedly been there for some time,” posted ISP. When Sgt. Crapo arrived, she spotted the owl near the median and used her patrol car as a block for oncoming traffic. 

Once the owl was out of harm’s way, she waited for a volunteer with the wildlife rescue to arrive. Within minutes, the volunteer arrived and together they freed the owl.

  They gave her a quick once-over to make sure she wasn’t injured before setting her free. But before she took flight, Sgt. Crapo had her photo taken with the rescued owl.

  The volunteer then took the owl away from the busy road and let her go. ISP thanked the community for alerting them to the distressed owl and Animals in Distress for their help. 

“Not all who need help on our roadways drive cars. The people of ISP are happy to help all who need assistance to get home safely,” wrote the police department.

It was said that the mother moose was previously with the calf, but because she was able to swim, she was able to escape the lake and go. 

It was unclear whether the mother fled to save herself or went to get help. Fortunately, some people were passing nearby on a boat and assisted in pulling the stuck newborn moose out of the water. 

They managed to lift the moose from the rocks that were pretty far off from any land. The moose appeared to be frightened, especially after it seemed to be very worn out from desperately holding onto the rocks. When they got to land, the two men put the young moose down so they it could go and rejoin its family. 

The newborn moose, though, was presumably still frightened and wished to remain with the two guys for a little while longer. After one of the men placed the moose down, the newborn tried to follow him back into the water, assuming it felt safer with the men. He was confident that once the young moose made it ashore, it would be reunited with its parents.

Everly has always been an affectionate and nurturing dog, which is quite natural considering her breed. 

Pit bulls have, unjustly, developed a reputation for being mean and aggressive, but the breed is naturally sweet and nurturing; in the 19th century, pit bulls were often referred to as “nanny dogs” because they were known to be loving, loyal and excellent with children. Everly has inherited all those loyal, loving and nurturing pit bull qualities and has always been eager to make friends with other animals. 

So, when a little baby squirrel became interested in Everly, Everly’s mother, Morgan Joy Groves, wasn’t too surprised when Everly returned the squirrel’s attention. The little squirrel kept following Everly, and eventually ended up following her and Groves all the way home. There, Everly laid down for a rest, which encouraged the little squirrel to get even closer to her. However, Groves realized that the baby squirrel needed more care than she and Everly could offer if it wanted to grow up to become healthy and able to care for itself. 

This meant that after a little while, Groves and Everly handed the baby squirrel over to a wildlife center where it could get the very best care. Everly loves her little foster son, but by living at the wildlife center, he’ll get to grow up with two other squirrels, and eventually return to the wild alongside them. 

Sometimes, being a good mother means making sure one’s child gets their best chance at a good life; even if it means giving them up. 

The little squirrel will surely always remember his kind foster mom with love and gratitude, and he’ll forever appreciate the love and comfort she offered him when he needed it the most.

Digout lives in Saskatoon, Canada and was sitting by the Saskatchewan riverbank when he first spotted the family of geese. Digout was actually looking to photograph beavers, but the unusual family pique his interest. Mike Digout

Fascinated by the mother goose and her babies, Digout began returning to the river each night to look for the unusual family. And every time he spotted the mother goose, her brood seemed to have grown. Mike Digout
One night, the number of goslings had gone from an impressive 16 to a mindblowing 47, and the line of little goslings trailing the mother goose made for a spectacular sight. Mike Digout
Digout captured the sight on camera, and posted a picture of the super-mom and her babies to Facebook. “This is a long line of goslings. It keeps going; and going; and going …” Digout wrote in his post. Mike Digout
As it turns out, the mother goose has so many goslings due to a phenomenon known as “gang brooding.” Gang brooding means that two or more pairs of geese parents decide to combine their families and raise their goslings collectively. Mike Digout
Digout kept regularly observing the massive family and took many adorable pictures of their lives together.

While observing the goose and her babies, Digout has watched them go on happy family-walks, watched the goslings learn how to dip their heads under the water without toppling over, and watched them all cuddle up together as one big happy family. As the goslings have grown bigger, the brood has now split into three separate gang broods. However, the mother goose is still caring for an impressive number of goslings; at the moment, she has 25 babies to keep safe and happy. 

Canada geese care for their babies until after they’ve returned home from their winter migration, so these little babies won’t be leaving their mom anytime soon. Next spring, after returning from migration, the males will leave the brood. The females will stay with the brood until they are ready to mate and start their own families. This adorable family has given us so much joy, and we’re glad that the little goslings get to enjoy the safety and happiness that comes with having a big and loving family. 

And the mother goose deserves serious kudos for staying so patient and affectionate while trying to raise 47 wild little souls – way to go!

Unlike most newborns, giraffes can be over six feet tall at birth and stand on their own feet instantly. 

Which is why Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, in Colorado, is so excited about their newest arrival: a baby female giraffe born on Wednesday morning.

  The announcement follows a 15-month pregnancy by 10-year-old mom Bailey. According to a post from the zoo, a “group of lucky guests” saw Bailey’s water break as she went into labor. 

“Tens of thousands” also witnessed the baby’s birth live via a YouTube livestream set up by the zoo.

  Giraffes have one of the most unique births in the animal kingdom: Giraffes have the third-largest newborns in the animal kingdom, behind only blue whales and elephants, averaging about 165 pounds. 

After the long gestation period, baby giraffes enter the world already pretty fully-formed, and start taking their first wobbly steps within an hour of birth. 

That was the case for this newborn, the zoo writes, who took “several attempts to stand on its own” before finding her footing.

 
The calf is currently unnamed: in accordance with “Cheyenne Mountain Zoo tradition,” they will wait 30 days before giving her a name.  
They don’t have an exact weight and height yet, but she appears to be 6 feet tall and about 125 pounds. She is the second baby for mom Bailey, and is now the 17th member of the zoo’s reticulated giraffe herd. Her father is a male giraffe named Khalid. 
 The mom and baby have been bonding well, and zoo visitors can see them from a short distance in the giraffe barn. They can also be seen on the zoo’s livestream.

Reticulated giraffes were listed as an endangered species on the IUCN Red List as of 2018, so every new birth is great news for the conservation of this endangered species. 
 We hope this beautiful little giraffe continues to thrive and grow up big, strong and very tall! Congrats to mama Bailey on her second birth!

That was the moment they saw the unfortunate turtle. She was trapped and helpless. As Miguel told The Dodo, he thought the turtle was dead. It is obvious that the turtle felt that its life was over. 

However, Miguel moved closer to see for himself. Even as he approached, the turtle did not move. It was only after Miguel touched her that the turtle showed signs of life. 

After that, this wonderful man started rescuing the unfortunate animal. After a lot of work and effort, he managed to free the turtle. The animal, which even lost hope for life, now has a new chance. All thanks to this man with a big heart. 

After her release, she did not stay on the coast for long. She couldn’t wait to get into the water and swim away. Miguel is very happy and proud to have given the unfortunate turtle a new chance at life.

  In the middle of the road, the kitten was frozen with fear and had no idea what to do! Fortunately, one person stopped among the ones who were casually walking by—it was Kevin! 

His heart sank as he witnessed the cars speeding past the helpless little cat, and he immediately decided to take action. When Kevin first noticed the kitten, he was driving a motorcycle. He was aware that the kitten wouldn’t have much time to live if no one intervened to save it. 

He was able to stop on the busy side of the road, signaling carefully for oncoming traffic to stop and slow down as he came up to the kitten and held it in his lap. 

The kitten was shaking and couldn’t believe it was saved! Kevin believed their encounter to be fateful, and when he was unable to locate the kitten’s owner, he made the decision to find a home for the kitten. 

He even started renovating the home and creating a certificate for the kitten. The kitten soon will be formally welcomed as a new member of the new family! The kitten’s name was Lion, and Lion gained notoriety after the dashcam footage of the kitten’s rescue was shared on social media and went viral. 

A local rescue organization volunteer found a foster home for Little Lion! The kitten is currently enjoying every day of his life in his new home and is very satisfied! Thank you too for going to adopt him once he is ready! God bless him for rescuing this precious baby boy. 🙏
