Holocaust Survivor Celebrates 100th Birthday By Throwing First Pitch At Rays Game

A Holocaust survivor threw the first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays game to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Thousands of baseball fans cheered on Helen Kahan as she threw the ceremonial first pitch of the game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees.

The pitch took place on Kahan's actual birthday and she was accompanied at the game by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kahan is an Auschwitz survivor. After escaping the Nazis, Helen immigrated to the United States in 1967, learned to speak English, and now resides in St. Petersburg, Florida.

"I never could have imagined celebrating a birthday like this, let alone my 100th," Kahan said.
