The heartwarming saga unfolded when the tiny calf was discovered wandering alone, desperately searching for its mother in the vast wilderness of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve at Pollachi. The distressing situation caught the attention of Supriya Sahu IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu, who shared the uplifting story on Twitter along with a touching photo capturing the emotional reunion. 

"The year ends on a heartwarming note for us at TN Forest Department," Supriya Sahu expressed on Twitter. "Our Foresters united a lost baby elephant with her mother and the herd after rescue in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve at Pollachi." The dedicated field teams, armed with compassion and determination, spotted the tiny calf, separated from its herd, and immediately set their efforts into motion. Utilizing cutting-edge technology such as drones and the expertise of experienced forest watchers, the forest department successfully located the missing herd, ensuring the safety of the baby elephant.

"The little calf was found searching for the mother when field teams spotted her. With the help of drones and experienced forest watchers, the herd was located, and the tiny calf was safely reunited," Supriya Sahu elaborated in her tweet, acknowledging the exceptional efforts of the forest department's personnel. 

The heroes of this tale, including Ramasubramanian, CF, Bhargava Teja FD, Range Officer Manikantan, and the entire team, were lauded for their dedication and commitment to wildlife conservation. "When a picture is worth a million words," Supriya Sahu captioned the photo of the reunion.

According to KTVU, there were 30-40 reported sightings. While there were no incidents of the wolfdog being aggressive, authorities did not know what threat the animal posed and didn’t know if it had an owner.

  The Sebastopol Police Department put out an alert, along with a photo of the hybrid walking down the highway, urging people to contact law enforcement but not approach the animal. 

Through social media, authorities learned that the wolfdog was not a stray but belonged to an owner from Santa Rosa; the escaped wolfdog’s name is “Shadow.” 

The owner joined the effort to capture Shadow and bring him home safe and sound, bringing along his two pet huskies.

  But Shadow was in “flight mode,” and evaded multiple attempts to capture him. Authorities took precautions to look out for his safety: North Bay Animal Services Executive Director Mark Scott told KTVU that they closed down the highway out of fear that the wolfdog would get struck. 

After multiple failed attempts, the owner, an animal care officer and a good samaritan were finally able to corner Shadow on Monday, calming him down enough to get a leash on him. 

Everyone was thrilled by the happy conclusion to the story — most of all Shadow’s owner, who in photos is seen on the ground hugging his wayward pet: “A big shoutout and THANK YOU to the vigilant community members who reported sightings of Shadow,” North Bay Animal Services wrote on Facebook. “Your alertness and cooperation made all the difference in bringing Shadow back to where he belongs.” 

What a happy ending! We’re so glad Shadow is home safe and sound!

However, the shelter had already given the dogs up for adoption according to their policy. Even though Bailey and Blaze were still available for adoption, James didn’t have enough money to pay the $250 adoption fee to get them back. James was unable to afford the adoption fee due to losing his savings during his hospitalization. In order to gather the funds, he decided to sell his car. 

Upon learning of James’ situation, the staff came together to assist him by contributing $5-$10 each until there was enough money to cover the fee. The video below shows James entering the shelter section of the store when he is not feeling well. He is unaware of the surprise awaiting him.

It’s a sweet moment straight out of Lady and the Tramp: If that wasn’t adorable enough, Travolta also shared another photo of him sleeping, with Peanut contentedly cuddling up with him for a nap: The Saturday Night Fever icon has shared many adorable photos of Peanut since the family adopted her last March. 

A video of the adorable dog waking Travolta up with some doggy kisses went viral last year. “This is how Ben’s dog Peanut wakes me up,” Travolta wrote.

Peanut’s adoption story 

It’s clear that Peanut has truly found the perfect home with the Travoltas, and the story of how he came to be adopted by the Pulp Fiction star and his family is one of the most heartwarming Hollywood stories of recent years. 

During the “in memoriam” segment of the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony, Jamie Lee Curtis paid tribute to TV icon and animal advocate Betty White, who had died the previous December. She took to the stage holding Peanut, then a Paw Works rescue puppy named Mac-N-Cheese who was looking for a home. The little dog delighted audiences around the world — and made a big impression on Travolta. The actor caught up with Curtis, his friend and co-star in the 1985 film Perfect, backstage at the Oscars and couldn’t resist getting a picture with the sweet rescue dog. 

Realizing it was meant to be, he adopted the dog for his son Benjamin, giving Peanut a true “Hollywood ending.”
