She is currently 6 feet tall, and zoo staff believe she is one of a kind, with the phenomenon being an incredibly rare occurrence for giraffes in captivity, and in the wild. Spots are used by giraffes to camouflage themselves in the wild. A series of veins on their skin also means the spots can help with heat regulation. 

Normally, giraffes inherit a unique set of spots from their mothers - which makes the birth of this animal incredibly unique. The zoo hopes the baby animal can help raise awareness for challenges faced by giraffes in the wild, including illegal poaching and habitat destruction. “The international coverage of our patternless baby giraffe has created a much-needed spotlight on giraffe conservation,” the founder of Brights Zoo, Tony Bright, told local television news station WCYB. 

“Wild populations are silently slipping into extinction, with 40% of the wild giraffe population lost in just the last three decades.” The zoo is holding a public contest to name the baby giraffe.

According to a Facebook post, the owl had been trapped in the pit for at least two days and was in rough shape. He was dehydrated, weak, and covered in layers of caked-on manure which took several baths to get off.

 The adorable reaction of one furry audience member that day, however, was not. “The character I played was injured and in great pain,” said Uzunsoy. “He’d fallen off a horse, and was breathing hard.” As Uzunsoy lay on the ground, his pretend suffering didn't go unnoticed. From the wings, a concerned stray dog made his entrance — interrupting the play to offer the "injured" stranger comfort. Uzunsoy didn't see it coming. 

“I felt warmth on my face. First, I thought my costar was approaching me,” Uzunsoy said. He was wrong. Realizing the truth, Uzunsoy couldn’t help but break character. His face gave way to a smile. “I was very happy when I felt the dog's kisses,” Uzunsoy said. “I was very touched. He was like an angel who wanted to help me. It was a very emotional moment for me. I was not expecting it.” 

No one seemed to mind that pause in the action. Rather, the reaction to the pup’s interruption was quite the opposite. “My castmates loved the dog, and the audience was very happy,” Uzunsoy said. “Everyone cheered.” A crew member eventually escorted the sweet dog offstage, where he remained awhile before strolling away. Uzunsoy, however, hopes their meeting that day is just the first of many acts to come. He wants to reunite with the pup and help him find a home — returning the favor for the kindness he’d shown Uzunsoy. 

“The next day I went to the same place, looking for him. People told me he usually hangs out there. I went again today,” Uzunsoy said. “I'll look for him until I find him. I've always loved animals.”

This creature appeared to beg standing on her hind legs. Amy observed that one of the creature’s eyes were injured and this made it easier to distinguish her from the rest. One night this momma raccoon visited the house with four babies. She continued to bring her babies along until winter arrived. After a long period of absence, the mother raccoon reappeared during springtime with five new babies. The third year arrived and the raccoon momma visited with two new babies.

As Amy and her husband were sitting on the back porch, the momma raccoon emerged from the woods with three babies and all three of them turned out to be albino baby raccoons. The two humans were shocked because they had never seen albino raccoons before. Amy and her husband never expected that they would be witnesses to such an astounding event. She did not forget to capture some images of the rare babies and shared them online for the rest of the world to see. 

“From what I’ve read, one albino baby is about 1 in 500,000 to 750,000, and three in one litter is 1 in 10 million. If it’s that rare, I’m so happy to be sharing it with people!” Amy conveyed. The human even contacted some wildlife experts to make sure whether it would be fine for the momma raccoon and her babies to be on their own and so far they appear to be doing alright.

However, not only did they make friends with other residents, but they also gained a family member. Paul Callahan, an 82-year-old widower from across the street, was eager to lend the new homeowners a hand with any home improvement projects. Soon, he became a permanent fixture in their lives. 

“The kids run up to him like that’s their grandfather,” Sharaine, the children’s mother, told USA Today. “Paul is definitely a family member. He’s no longer considered a neighbor.” Not only does Paul drop by to help out with the kids on a near-daily basis, he’s also welcome at every gathering and celebration. 

He says he’s glad that he reached out and got to know his neighbors. “If you don’t take a chance, you may miss a friend,” Paul said.

Despite the unusual situation, this big dog won the hearts of everyone on the plane and many more people online. When Gabriel Bogner moved from Los Angeles to Brooklyn recently, he had to figure out a way to fly his dog Darwin across the country. 

In a TikTok video, Gabriel explained that he has Crohn’s disease and that he relies on Darwin as his service dog. Many airlines allow support animals to board with their owners, but Darwin is a bit different — he’s a giant, 140-pound Great Dane. 

Gabriel said that he explored many options for travelling with Darwin and that the Great Dane was bigger than the largest crate available. But soon, he found a solution: American Airlines told him that he could bring Darwin on board with him if he bought three seats for the dog, allowing enough space for Darwin to fly comfortably. 

Gabriel agreed, and it led to one unforgettable flight for everyone. A viral TikTok video, which has been viewed nearly 18 million times, shows this big dog’s in-flight adventure. “Who says Great Danes aren’t airplane dogs,” Gabriel wrote in the caption. So how did people react to this giant dog boarding their flight? Gabriel said it was “definitely a shocker for people walking through the airport to see a literal horse coming towards them,” however, nearly everyone seemed delighted by Darwin. 

“There were no issues, she was great and the entire crew was amazing,” Gabriel told SWNS, per the New York Post. “People were absolutely gobsmacked and shocked, but everyone was so excited to see her… I’ve never seen so many people smiling at an airport.” Indeed, the comments on the TikTok video are overwhelmingly positive, with many saying they would love to be seated next to the Great Dane and would even “pay extra” to be near him. 

“As a flight attendant … I would do anything for him on my flight,” one commenter wrote. “My flight anxiety would be nonexistent if I got to sit next to this angel,” another said. “Why can’t I ever be on a flight when this happens.”

  Here is an example of a narrative that exemplifies the obnoxious behavior. In a little village in County called Elphin In a field outside Roscommon, Ireland, a two-year-old dog was discovered tied to a fence. 

The dog appeared to have been abandoned by someone who had six newborn puppies who couldn’t even fully open their eyes. They were abandoned without food or water, and they were left freezing and hungry. 

Despite being restrained, the mother dog made an effort to care for her puppies. The fact that a walker noticed the animals and alerted the police and the ISPCA was pure chance. Soon after, assistance arrived, and the animals were taken to a veterinarian in Longford for medical treatment. 

Fortunately, the dogs had no symptoms of illness and were in good health, despite the fact that they had to be kept there for a while. After the ISPCA posted this story on Facebook, many expressed anger and disapproval. The mother dog’s name was Emmy Lou, and the six puppies were given the names Billy, RAY, Dixie, Dolly, Dotty, June, and Patsy. The family will be looked for by the ISPCA for a while until they can find a permanent home. 

We are relieved that the dog and her family have been separated, but what about the other animals that are prepared to put up with it? It’s difficult to believe that someone would leave the pets in such an inhumane manner.

However, her compassion extends beyond deer, as evidenced when she received a distress call about a 3-week-old baby raccoon. 

The raccoon, later named Jasper, was discovered alone during a rainstorm after his mother had abandoned him. Jasper, believed to be the runt of his litter, was found soaking wet in a pool of water. The woman who found him reached out to Long for assistance. “We weren’t sure he was going to make it,” Long confessed to The Dodo. 

Despite the uncertainty, Long’s nurturing care proved to be a lifeline for the little raccoon. Under Long’s attentive care, Jasper not only survived but also thrived. He grew into a healthy adult raccoon, and although he was free to return to the wild, he chose to stay at the sanctuary. 

Having experienced the loneliness of being abandoned, Jasper decided he could help the orphaned deer at Texas Fawn and Friends feel less alone. Jasper found companionship among the 75 deer residing in the sanctuary.

  However, he formed a special bond with one deer named Hope. “Hope was a fawn that I received in that had [also] lost her mother,” Long shared with My Modern Met. 

Jasper’s playful interactions with Hope, who was larger than the dogs he also enjoyed playing with, became a source of joy for him. Whenever Jasper sees Hope, his excitement is palpable. He rushes to her, licking her face and embracing her in a hug. The video showcases Jasper’s playful antics, such as climbing all over Hope, lying on her back, and wrapping his arms around her neck. “He sees her every day,” Long noted. “In the evening, she comes and lays next to him. They’ve got a cool relationship going on.” 

The heartwarming story of Jasper and Hope is just one of many at Texas Fawn and Friends. Long anticipates that she will need to care for at least 100 orphaned fawns in 2022 alone. Her dedication to these animals is unwavering. The fawns under Long’s care are not only given a second chance at life but they are also provided with an environment where they can flourish. 

“It’s very rewarding work,” Long stated, reflecting on her role in these animals’ lives.

Gus, his beloved dog, has been with Michael J. Fox for more than a decade until he passed away in 2021 at the age of 12. He was the “second son” and “fifth child” that provided Michael with the support he needed especially with his health struggles. 

If you didn’t know, Michael J. Fox was diagnosed in 1991 with Parkinson’s Disease at the young age of 29. It continues to be a constant struggle for the retired actor where day-to-day activities are still hard to perform.

It’s okay, though, because he has the love and support of his family with him. Plus he has Gus. 

“I didn’t rescue Gus. You can argue that he rescued me, but he’d be too modest to make that claim. You know that no matter your situation, no matter what you feel, this animal is with you and is connected to you, and you feel,” Michael J. Fox said.

Michael is so grateful for the emotional support and companionship he got from Gus. “Your instinct when you have a chronic illness is to sometimes isolate and make your world as small as possible so you don’t have much to deal with, but a dog will open you up,” Michael shared. They often took their morning walks in Central Park, where so many people stopped to talk to them. Michael joked though that the reason people stopped them so much was not that they wanted to talk to the famous actor. Nope, they wanted to talk to Gus. Michael and his family have such great memories of Gus. This particular one stood out. In 2018, Michael had to have spinal surgery. The doctors removed a tumor from his spinal cord and he had to relearn how to walk. He had to come home in a wheelchair. Do you know who was waiting for him when he get home? That’s right. It was Gus. 

“He kind of circles the wheelchair with this low kind of woof woof, woof woof, and sat in front of the wheelchair right in front of me, and looked at me, and I said, ‘It’s going to be okay,’ ” Michael recalled.

It is devastating to any fur parent when their fur baby passes away. That’s why it’s so important to share great memories with them while they’re still alive. 

Gus’ passing hurts but it’s comforting to know that Michael was loved by Gus and Gus loved Michael.

Now, Michael is ready to share the love he had for Gus with another dog. It looks like Michael is not the only one who’s ready to love Blue. The post has received more than 700k hearts and more than 7k comments. 

This puppy is already loved by so many people he hasn’t even met yet. Many people also love how much he resembles the pup in Back to the Future, Einstein. That’s the way it is. You give love, you get love.

He doesn’t have arms, but that hasn’t stopped him from being able to accomplish incredible feats. Just last month, he competed in the men’s S5 50m freestyle. The competition was fierce, but Guo looked calm as he prepared to dive into the water. Once he did, it was clear just how determined he was to secure his spot in first place. 

As the sports commentators noted, it’s absolutely breathtaking to see Guo glide so gracefully through the water. While his competitors’ movements left trails of large splashes, Guo seemingly became one with the water. 

In a video capturing this competition, many of the commentors note how the water perfectly “coats” his head, barely disrupted by his movements. A slice of the El Ali meteorite that fell in Somalia in 2020. Image credit: University of Alberta A giant meteorite that fell in Somalia in 2020 contains at least two minerals that have never before been seen on our planet. 

The minerals have been identified by researchers at the University of Alberta, according to a press release. Tons of space material enters the Earth’s atmosphere every day but very few actually survive the journey through the atmosphere and hit the ground. Instead, they tend to burn up instantly from the outside in, as friction with the atmosphere causes them to ablate. 

For this reason, few large meteorites reach the planet’s surface, and the one that fell near the town of El Ali in Somalia is definitely an exception. The celestial piece of rock weighs a massive 16.5 tons (15 tonnes), making it the ninth-largest meteorite ever found. Image credit: University of Alberta After a small piece of the meteorite weighing about 2.5 ounces (70 grams) was sent to the University of Alberta for classification, researchers identified two minerals that are not found on Earth. 

“Whenever you find a new mineral, it means that the actual geological conditions, the chemistry of the rock, was different than what’s been found before,” said Chris Herd, a professor in the Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences and curator of the University of Alberta’s Meteorite Collection. 

“That’s what makes this exciting: In this particular meteorite you have two officially described minerals that are new to science.” The El Ali meteorite is big, but it is dwarfed by the 60-tonne, 2.7 m (8.9 ft) long Hoba meteorite in Namibia, the largest known intact meteorite. Image credit: Calips
It usually takes a considerable amount of work to confirm the presence of a new mineral, but in this case, the two minerals identified had been synthetically created before. In this way, the team could match their compositions quickly to confirm their discovery. 

An initial analysis by the Electron Microprobe Laboratory at the University of Alberta also confirmed their presence in the meteorite. The two newly discovered minerals have been named elaliite and elkinstantonite. The first receives its name from the meteorite itself, while the second mineral was named after professor Lindy Elkins-Tanton, principal investigator of NASA’s upcoming Psyche mission. 

“Lindy has done a lot of work on how the cores of planets form, how these iron-nickel cores form, and the closest analog we have are iron meteorites,” Herd added. “So it made sense to name a mineral after her and recognize her contributions to science.” Scientists would need a bigger piece of the meteorite to be able to carry on researching the meteorite’s composition. Interestingly, there is a third new mineral that is under consideration, and its presence can only be confirmed after further analysis of completed. If researchers were to obtain more samples from the massive meteorite, there’s a chance that even more might be found, Herd noted. 

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to happen soon though, as the El Ali meteorite has since reportedly been moved to China to be sold there. Whether a potential buyer would allow further samples to be taken for scientific purposes remains to be seen.
