In a Missouri neighborhood, a compassionate individual witnessed this distressing act and reached out to Stray Rescue of St. Louis for assistance. The rescue team, led by Donna Lochmann, the chief life-saving officer, responded promptly to rescue Malea. Upon arriving, they found Malea inside the dumpster, her eyes conveying a mixture of hope and relief. 

Her tail began to wag as she saw her rescuers, a smile gracing her face, grateful for their arrival. The rescuers were deeply moved, struggling to contain their emotions in the face of such cruelty. “We tried to hold back tears, but this really choked us up. It was so hot inside; we’re thankful she didn’t pass out,” the team shared on Facebook. Lochmann carefully entered the dumpster, comforted Malea, and then gently brought her out. 

The team took Malea to their shelter in St. Louis, where she showed immense gratitude, showering her rescuers with affectionate licks and kisses. 

On their way to the shelter, the team received another call about two puppies abandoned in a downtown parking lot. Swiftly, they rescued these joyful puppies and brought them to safety. Due to the shelter’s full capacity, the puppies were placed in foster care, while Malea joined the shelter’s Rovernight program, a temporary home setup. 

Natalie Thomson, the rescue’s Director of Marketing, highlighted Malea’s compatibility with other dogs and gentleness with children, as she enjoyed her temporary loving home. The three rescued dogs are now basking in love and care, eagerly awaiting permanent homes. Their stories underscore the importance of intervening when animals are in distress. 

A simple call can save lives, as demonstrated by the Good Samaritan who alerted the rescue to Malea’s plight, ensuring her timely rescue.

  “I've realized in the last few years that I want to be one of those people who help other people the way so many people helped me,” he explains. “I don't want to just be someone who enjoys the fruits of what other people have done and then pull the drawbridge up and go, well I'm alright Jack, I've had a nice time.” 

He goes on to say that now he has achieved a level of profitability in his career, he wants to use it to give back to people. This realization happened in 2011 when Sheen was working on a production in Port Talbot, Wales. He discovered how much the project helped people and children in the community. Then, when he returned to the town several months later, he found out that there was no more funding for the organization. 

“I realized the difference between that child's life being a little bit better or not was ultimately a small amount of funding,” he says. “And I wanted to help those people. I didn't just want to be a patron or a supportive voice, I wanted to actually do more than that.” 

This also prompted him to relocate to Wales again. Sheen's resolve was tested again in 2019 when funding ran out for the Homeless World Cup in Cardiff which he was working with. In a last-ditch effort to save the organization, he sold his houses in the U.S. and Wales. 

“There was something quite liberating about going, alright, I'll put large amounts of money into this or that, because I'll be able to earn it back again,” he explains. “I've essentially turned myself into a social enterprise, a not-for-profit actor.” Fortunately, Sheen's acting career is continuing to shine. As long as he's successful, he's sure to help many others in the future.   Strawberry’s photo first appeared online on an Instagram page that shares photos of dogs due to be euthanized at the Riverside Shelter in Jurupa Valley, California. Volunteers at another Los Angeles-based nonprofit called the La Belle Foundation rescued her from the shelter and had the 2-year-old dog thoroughly checked out by their veterinarian. 

“We saw Strawberry’s shelter picture in a state of such neglect, and we knew we needed to save her,” the La Belle Foundation wrote on Instagram. “Her skin was bright pink from infection, covered in mange, and she had 2 large lumps on her head. After several weeks of testing, a bone biopsy, and an MRI, we have discovered the lumps on her head are just scar tissue from an old injury and nothing life threatening.” Strawberry had surgery to remove rocks from her stomach, but her “unicorn horn” could not be removed because the operation could cause brain damage. The shelter set out to find a family that would overlook Strawberry’s differences and see the sweet, happy animal she truly is. 

“Our sweet girl Strawberry is the reason why people say dogs are man’s best friend,” they wrote on Facebook. “She is so full of unconditional love. It’s clear she wasn’t treated well in her past life, but that doesn’t stop her from being the most loving girl.” After seeing Strawberry’s photo on her social media timeline several times, Kristen knew she was meant to be her dog-mom! 

“I just kept seeing her picture pop up on the foundation’s Instagram page and she was still available,” she recalled. “She just had such gentle eyes and, you know, I had never seen a dog like her ever before. She’s very unique and recognizable and one in a million, one of a kind.” Kristen brought Strawberry home, and after an adjustment period, she finally settled in and let her personality shine. She loves to play with Kristen’s twin sons, but she’s just as comfortable snuggling with her family on the sofa. Strawberry has lived up to her name! Her family says she’s incredibly sweet, and they’re so happy to have her in their lives.

Yet, it’s equally heartening to know there are those who would do everything in their power to save a precious creature, like the endearing dog in this story. Discovering a small puppy like Alberto abandoned in a box, betrayed by those he trusted most, is a profoundly sad sight for any compassionate person. 

Alberto, a brave little dog, endured the tough reality of living in a box in the middle of nowhere, suffering from a worm in his eye, likely a key reason for his abandonment. Thankfully, a group of benevolent individuals from Paticasporayudar, including a kind woman featured in the Paws Show’s video, discovered and promptly cared for him. The woman was deeply moved by Alberto’s plight and distressed by his abandonment at such a critical time: 

Her plea for assistance while holding Alberto in the cardboard box was heart-wrenching. Yet, it was uplifting to see the subsequent part of the video, showcasing Alberto’s recuperation. 

With the support of these compassionate people, Alberto’s bleak situation transformed into one of hope. Besides being undernourished and in poor health overall, Alberto faced another challenge – eye worms. This infection, typically caused by flies that feed on dogs’ tears and lay eggs in their eyes, had affected Alberto. 

Fortunately, a veterinarian performed surgery to remove the maggots, saving him from potential blindness. The dedicated team at Paticasporayudar went above and beyond to ensure Alberto’s safety and health. Their elation when he opened his eyes and began eating was immense, understandable given his charm. 

Today, Alberto’s playful spirit and positive energy are a testament to his resilience. His joy in the company of his rescuers and canine companions, frolicking and snuggling, is evident. According to his rescuer, he may have even found his forever human. This story, although starting on a somber note, is a beautiful reminder of the impact of kindness. Seeing an abandoned, unwell puppy thrive is incredibly rewarding. All of this was made possible by the generous hearts at Paticasporayudar.

  According to Wise Voter, in the United States, there are only 15 states that allow people to own a fox, and even those states have restrictions. They are considered to be dangerous to humans. They are also loud and have a lot of energy. And then there is Archie. 

According to GeoBeats Animals, he was dropped off at a Colorado dog shelter when he was eight. He is an Arctic Fox that is also blind. No one knows why Archie got dropped off at the dog shelter. Perhaps his former humans couldn’t keep up with his care, or they had to move. Regardless, he went from the shelter in Colorado to Minnesota, where he was moved to a fox rescue. Archie didn’t care for it and didn’t want to socialize with the other foxes. That is when the Arctic Fox Daily Wildlife Rescue came in. They do more than provide a safe place for foxes that cannot be released into the wild. They rehabilitate native wildlife in New York, doing what they can, if possible, to give them a home or safely put them back in the wild. 

According to GeoBeats Animals, the founder of the organization, Kimberly DeFisher, said: “When Archie first got here, he was definitely very reserved, but what’s really cool is that Archie, fast forward a little bit, has completely come out of his shell.” Archie was born blind, so he has become accustomed to living without eyesight. He does well remembering his boundaries but still bumps into things occasionally. He also knows the word “treat.” Lulu is a special person in Archie’s life. 

They often hang out with each other at the sanctuary. They even go on dates with another couple of foxes, Cleo and tundra. Kimberly says that people sometimes ask her why she puts so much into caring for these animals. Many people think they aren’t worth the trouble, but she has seen the rewards of doing it. Kimberly also shares how Archie is getting near the end of his life. An Arctic Fox will typically live up to 10 years old and the wild, and Archie is now 10 years old. Kimberly wants to make sure he is happy now that he is older. There is a video showing Archie’s beauty and how much these wonderful animals mean to Kimberly.

Living in herds of around 20 other capybaras, they are extremely sociable animals that quickly become depressed if left alone. 

As i said before, they’re herbivores and have no natural prey. Their territories sometimes overlap with other animals but in those cases they just chase of any intruders and leave it at that. Their predators are limited, with the small group including jaguars, anacondas and harpy eagles to name a few. These predators pale in comparison to the main threat to capybaras however, that title belongs to none other than humans. We hunt them for their meat and their hide which can be used as food or clothing respectively. 

Despite this, most capybaras show the same level of friendliness towards humans as any other animal. They’re just that nice. In fact, the only reason you SHOULDN’T approach a capybara is the potential of it carrying fleas! Well, that and if it’s hanging around with a crocodile. Weighing in at up to 75kg and measuring a whopping 1.4m long, capybaras are the largest rodents in the world. 

This often leads to them being used as a sort of public transport with other animals like small birds and monkeys hitching rides. Seriously, imagine a monkey riding around on the back of one. There are many photos floating about of capybaras lounging, chilling and otherwise looking unbothered by such animals as cats, monkeys and even crocodiles. 

I don’t know about you, but the latter was definitely the biggest shock to me. Crocodiles have a reputation as one of the deadliest creatures on earth, and yet here they are having a snooze next to a stocky rat-pig! An unbelievably heartwarming fact is that, because of their caring, sociable tendencies, capybaras often become adopted mothers to orphaned animals. There are stories of them adopting orphaned dogs, deer, turtles, cats, you name it. 

Being partially aquatic, capybaras spend a lot of time near water. They mate in water, use it to escape predators and just generally like to lounge near it. Water sources are naturally popular locations, acting as sort of gathering places for the creatures of the world. 

This probably plays a part in all the sightings of increasingly bizarre animals cuddling up to capybaras. They end up at the same watering hole and can’t resist! If you ever visit a wildlife park, zoo etc, that has capybaras, you’ll often find them mixed up with other species like rabbits. Sometimes, you can even enter the enclosure to say hello, that’s just how friendly they are. 

Truth be told, we can only guess as to why and how they became so well-liked, but one thing we know for certain, animals LOVE capybaras!

Found as a stray, Sweet Pea was severely underweight, her stomach sagging from overbreeding, and her ears bent backward – possibly from a botched cropping attempt. Regardless, Caitlyn saw something special when she looked at Sweet Pea; an unspoken connection that would bond the two for the rest of Sweet Pea’s life. From the moment Caitlyn picked her up, Sweet Pea’s big, terrified eyes revealed the emotional scars she carried. Caitlyn was determined to provide a safe and loving environment for Sweet Pea to heal and grow. 

At first, Sweet Pea was too scared to leave the house or go for walks. However, when Caitlyn began bringing her other dog, Tater Tot, along on walks, Sweet Pea slowly emerged from her shell. Tater Tot, a dog-selective pup who Caitlyn had for three years, quickly fell in love with Sweet Pea. The two dogs bonded over their shared anxieties and helped each other overcome their fears. Nowadays, Sweet Pea refuses to go for walks unless the entire family is all together. 

Despite her traumatic past, Sweet Pea has blossomed into a loving and affectionate dog. She enjoys keeping her paws on her human’s hand, receiving head pats, and comforting her loved ones when they’re upset. The trio has become inseparable, with Sweet Pea always following Tater Tot and Caitlyn wherever they go. While Sweet Pea may not receive many compliments from strangers, the staff at Dunkin’ Donuts have become fans of the adorable duo. Caitlyn believes that Pit Bulls like Sweet Pea are often misunderstood and not given a fair chance. She has learned that a lot of a dog’s behavior is based on the environment and the person they are with. 

When Caitlyn is calm, her dogs are calm as well. From April to October, Sweet Pea underwent five surgeries, and there were days when Caitlyn didn’t know if she would make it. However, Sweet Pea never gave up on herself, proving to be a resilient and tough dog. Caitlyn often tells Sweet Pea how grateful she is for her strength and perseverance. Caitlyn, Tater Tot, and Sweet Pea often visit Caitlyn’s mom at work, where there is a vast field for the dogs to play. Sweet Pea will play with Tater Tot for a bit before standing protectively next to Caitlyn or her mom. 

Even off-leash, Sweet Pea never strays far from her family’s side. Having overcome her difficult past, Sweet Pea now lives a happy life, enjoying simple pleasures like lying outside in the sunshine. 

Her inspiring story is a testament to the power of love, patience, and understanding in helping a traumatized dog heal and find her bliss.

  Gervais, known for creating and starring in shows like The Office, Extras and After Life, is reportedly donating $2.4 million in proceeds from his latest stand-up tour to a selection of 11 animal charities, according to The Standard. 

The charities include All Dogs Matter, Animal SOS Sri Lanka, Catastrophes Cat Rescue, Chaldon Animal Sanctuary, Dogs On The Streets, Helping Rhinos, Millions of Friends, Mira Dogs, Paws2Rescue, PDSA and Wild Futures. 

“I hope the dogs, cats, rhinos and monkeys invest this money wisely, because when my career goes tits up I’ll need it back,” the comedian joked.

The proceeds come from Gervais’ recent Armageddon tour, which had a sold-out, 85-date worldwide run over the past year. Gervais has a policy of selling high-priced, premium tickets to all of his shows: this helps fight ticket price gouging, and Gervais donates the extra proceeds to charities. 

“This way people willing to pay higher prices will at least know it’s going to charity instead of some scummy tout,” he explained in 2017. The Armageddon tour was a particular success for Gervais, setting the Guinness World Record for the highest-grossing single stand-up show of all time after his May 6 show at the Hollywood Bowl, which raked in $1,790,206. Ricky Gervais has long been a vocal advocate for animal rights. Last year he announced that he was an ethical vegan, and he has used his platform to speak out against practices like trophy hunting and bear bile farming. 

In 2020, he lent his support to the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting. “Why are we even having to make the case for banning trophy hunting in the year 2020?” he told The Sun. “It’s hard to think of anything more sickening or senseless than killing an animal for entertainment, then hacking it up so you can display its body parts and brag about it… Trophy hunting is humanity at its very worst.” In 2014, Gervais supported Animals Asia by adopting a moon bear who had been farmed for his bile. Gervais named the bear “Derek,” after the title character from his Netflix series. 

In recognition of his donations and advocacy, Gervais has received the Lord Houghton Award for Service to Animal Welfare from Animal Defenders International and the Cecil Award from Humane Society International.

  When he is swimming in the area, he often meets dolphins and those wild creatures have become familiar with him. In fact, he even named one of them Dusty, and it was that dolphin that did something that most people never would’ve believed. 

Fortunately, Evan had the video to prove it and if you aren’t a believer in the intelligence of dolphins, prepare to have your mind changed. When Evan had to adjust one of his fins, Dusty was watching. Evan took the fin off and perhaps that took the dolphin by surprise. What was actually surprising, however, is that Dusty brought him a snorkeling fin that was found in the ocean in order to replace the one he had removed. 

This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime exchanges that you really can’t make up. It’s hard to believe that Dusty could be quite so intelligent, but it really shows that he was thinking about his friend the freediver from their encounter the day before. We can only imagine how this felt for Evan, who was at the center of the exchange. It was also amazing to many of those who watched the video and couldn’t help but comment that the video had basically changed their life.

Because we know how animal lovers operate, we're going to tell you right off the bat that the dog survived and is expected to make a full recovery. 

Being animal lovers ourselves, we know that we'd be hesitant to read a story, even one that sounds as amazing as this one, if we didn't know what happened to the animal. So we're telling you right now: both the dog and the owner are alive and well! 

Now let's read on about this incredible hero from Brewster, New York. Figo, a golden retriever service dog, is on the mend after saving his blind owner from what would have been a life-threatening situation by throwing himself in front of an oncoming school bus. 

Audrey Stone was walking through an intersection when a bus made a left-hand turn without noticing her crossing the street. Without hesitation, Figo reportedly immediately jumped in front of the bus to take the brunt of the hit. Paul Schwartz, the manager of the gas station near the accident side, witnessed the crash and ran over to help. 

"There were 15 EMTs and people all around her and the dog didn't want to leave her side," Schwartz told The Journal News. "[Figo] was flopping over to her and she didn't want him to get away from her, either. She kept screaming, 'Where's Figo? Where's Figo? Where's Figo?' We kept telling her he was fine." 

Stone fractured her elbow and ankle, broke three ribs and received a cut on her head, but her injuries would have been way worse had it not been for her dog's heroic actions. Figo suffered a deep cut on his leg that was tended to at the scene. 

"The dog was being a good sport, really calm," Schwartz said. "He sat with me the whole time. He was limping as we put him on a big blanket on the sidewalk and it started to rain. He let us wrap up his leg without any problem. He wasn't barking or crying or yelping. 

According to The Journal News, the bus driver was taken in for routine post-accident drug and alcohol testing and will be taken off-duty while the accident is investigated. Stone is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment, but Brewster Police Chief John Del Gardo says she was happy to hear that her dog is recovering and being well cared for. 

"The dog took a lot of the blow," Del Gardo said. "And he did not want to leave her side. He stood right with her. He was there to save her." The Middlebranch Veterinary Facebook page posted the above photos of Figo and wrote that he "is resting comfortably and recovering nicely from his wounds."

They'd be pushing us in front of the bus. Yep, that's probably how it would go down. Obviously we are kidding. Our cats are not murderous creatures. Or are they?!
