The magical beauty of Icelandic horses are on full display in these wonderful pictures by photographer Drew Doggett.

In his latest photographic series – In the Realms of Legends – Doggett ventured to Iceland to photograph what he calls the “noble and resilient horses native to Iceland.”

The horses are as deeply rooted in Iceland’s mythology as the land itself and Doggett’s photos capture the ethereal, magical qualities of both the landscape and horse.

Other photos are taken at Jokulsarlon, a black sand beach that is riddled with sea ice.

Despite the harsh environments in which they live, the Icelandic horses are “extremely amicable” according to the photographer’s press release.

Doggett himself was mesmerized by the colors of scenes.

Drew DoggettFor one photo he calls “Noble Light” he remarked on his website: “I found this multi-faceted jet black rock face played an elegant counterpart to the white horse who appears to be illuminated by a divine light.”

In another, he wrote, “Running free over a rolling expanse of land, you can tell that these horses have an inimitable bond with their home.”

Ultimately, the series is meant as a tribute to the Icelandic horses themselves. “This work is a tribute to them and the incredible, nearly unbelievable natural elements of our planet that I spend my life working to capture and share,” Doggett wrote on his blog.

Past few years, a cute black dog named Negro has been living in the campus of Colombia’s Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare. He keeps his eye over the students as a guardian who is going for their studies.

The school’s faculty looks after him and provides food, water and shelter to pass the night. But apparently, the dog has decided to do the things that are beyond to him.

Negro used to observe the kids buying things on their breaks and sometimes even the students used to buy him the cookies that were sold there. That was the time when the dog firstly learned about commerce and he decided to try it out all by himself.

Teacher Angela Garcia Bernal said, “He would go to the store and watch the children give money and receive something in exchange. Then one day, spontaneous, he appeared with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie.”

Negro invented his own currency and Surprisingly! It was accepted. The dog by then had realized that money would literally grow on the trees.



“He comes for cookies every day,” Gladys Barreto, a longtime store attendant, said. “He always pays with a leaf. It is his daily purchase.”

Now the dog has been doing the same thing for years now and at the same time staffs has been taking care of him by letting him have only those foods which are safe for dogs.

The staffs also limit his purchase to just a couple a day but still, it’s a remarkable thing to behold. “When you first see it, you almost want to cry,” Bernal said. “He’s found a way to make himself understood. He’s very intelligent.”

Not many people can walk freely with wolves and the rare few who are able to share such a close and special bond with the majestic animals are incredibly fortunate. 

Paul Robertson has been employed as a truck driver for years, and though he enjoys his job, he can sometimes get very lonely when he is out on the road. That’s why he decided to adopt a cat named Howie.


Howie spent years traveling with Paul as his dedicated companion, so when the cat passed away in 2017, the trucker was devastated. In the midst of his grief, Paul decided that he wanted to give another cat in need a forever home, so he went to an animal shelter to find one.

Workers at the shelter introduced Paul to a ginger cat named Percy, and he knew right away that this was the right cat for him.


Percy has had a difficult life, as he was found living in the streets with quite a few injuries. It was clear to staffers at the shelter that he had been in some fights, since he had an injury above his right eye, and he was missing one of his canine teeth. Despite his rough past, Percy had a sweet personality, and he bonded with Paul immediately. Within minutes, Paul made the decision to adopt him!




Percy loved being in Paul’s truck immediately, and during their first two weeks together, they drove through the Badlands and the Rocky Mountains.

“He’s very affectionate and loves to crawl on my lap, up my chest, and then rub cheeks with me,” Paul said. “He loves to play. He purrs a lot. And of course, he’s a cat: he loves to eat and he loves to snooze.”


All was going well for the pair until February of 2017, when Paul was stopped at a rest stop in Ohio. Suddenly, Percy jumped out to chase some birds, and though Paul chased after him, he was not quick enough to catch the cat. Since he had thousands of dollars of products in his truck to deliver, Paul had no choice but to drive away without Percy.


Paul was devastated at the thought of losing his cat. Then, when he reached his destination in Indiana, he saw a flash of orange by his feet. When he looked down, he saw Percy emerge from under the truck, and he realized the clever cat had stowed away!




Since then, Paul has made sure to keep an extra special eye on Percy when they travel. He can’t stand the thought of losing Percy, given how much joy the cat has brought to his life.

“The other day I caught myself laughing at one of his antics and I thought: ‘It’s nice to live alone sometimes ’cause you can have everything your own way – but I wouldn’t be laughing like this if I were alone.’ Percy is good for my spirit and soul,” Paul said.


We hope that Paul and Percy have many more happy years together!
