When Rico Soegiarto found this malnourished and abandoned husky, the poor dog was so weak and sick from neglect that it could barely stand up. The animal was wandering the streets of Denpasar, Bali with bald patches on its mangy coat thereby revealing exposed sores.

He was so malnourished that he looked "skeletal". He could barely hold himself up, and he had long, dirty nails that had not been trimmed for at least months. It is believed that the husky would likely have died soon after Rico found him unless he was nursed back to health.

Rico took care of the poor animal by washing and trimming his coat, feeding him properly, and taking him to the vet regularly.

Ten months later the dog now has a full, white coat and looks strong and healthy. The husky is also happy and playful, and he loves his new owner!

K-9 Country Inn Working Service Dogs is a full-service training facility based in Ontario, Canada. At this training facility, the employees train service dogs to meet their handlers’ individual needs via their unique service dog support program.

The initial stages of the program include repetitive obedience and socialization training. Then, the dog progresses into the final stage, where they demonstrate their obedience.

When they leave the training facility, the dogs are well-mannered, outgoing, confident, and friendly with people, kids, and other animals. K-9 Country Inn heavily trains service dogs because they need to assist their handlers in their daily activities. Further, the dogs need to have the skills to save their owner’s life if necessary.

As part of their two-year program, the future service dogs of K-9 Country Inn are given a special task: watching Billy Elliot the Musical at the Stratford Festival. Seemingly, this exercise prepares the service dogs to accompany their handlers anywhere.

Inside the 1,800-seat theater, the dogs quietly watch the entire show amongst the other patrons. Theater etiquette requires them to sit still and remain quiet, a task that can be difficult for curious dogs.

The service dogs are expected to sit at their handler’s feet while they enjoy the show. However, some of the dogs did sneak a peek while the performance was underway. Luckily, they were caught on camera.

According to the head trainer, the dogs did a great job, and they were able to get through the show in their best behavior. Regardless, these wholesome photos will make you giggle because these dogs are so cute.

These super cute pictures were done by Miles Herbert, a British photographer who runs Captivelight, holding workshops and photography tuition for anyone interested in capturing “birds of prey, reptiles, frogs and other beasties.”

“These harvest Mice were photographed in an indoor studio,” Miles said. “We provide a service for photographers looking for high impact pictures of the animals, and using a purpose-built studio means that we are not weather dependent. There is also an option to photograph animals outside if the client wishes, our other specialty is frogs!”

“Nearly all the animals we photograph are captive bred; the mice are bred to release into the wild at a local nature reserve – we prefer to use captive-bred animals rather than disturbing wild populations, and captive bred animals are more sustainable.”

The mice get a treat during the sessions: they love to eat the stamens and the nectar of the flowers while Miles and his clients get to take great close-up shots.

The Australian bush-fires have united crafters around the world to make koala mittens, kangaroo pouches, bird nests and even bat wraps


At least a billion animals have died since the record-breaking Australian bush-fires started last September.

But hundreds of thousands of them are being rescued and lovingly swaddled in pouches, wraps and nests sewn by crafters around the world.


The Facebook group organizing the effort has gained nearly 50,000 members/volunteers in a little over a month since it was created.

The Rescue Craft Co is part of a larger group called the Animal Rescue Craft GuildAnimal Rescue Craft Guild, dedicated to animals injured in the Australian bush-fires.

The Canadian chapter alone has grown to 3000 volunteers since with was created last week.



The group founder, Australian Morgan Leigh, says they now have more than enough koala mittens and is asking crafters to ocus more on Joey pouches for baby kangaroos, wraps to swaddle baby bats, and nests for homeless birds.


“I’m making kangaroo pouches because I have a lot of flannel,” Canadian Shana Panasuk told CTV News. “Some of the animals are rescues, like kangaroos that lost their mothers, so they need the pouches so they feel safe and can develop normally.”


She requests all wraps and pouches to be made of 100% cotton flannel with no pilling and nests and blankets be knitted from natural fibers, such as wool.
