Jessica took the small squirrel home and paid special attention to him. She named him Steve and cared for him as a newborn baby. Soon Steve grew up and resembled a fluffy cute squirrel. One day the woman came home and couldn’t find the squirrel. 

Although the squirrel later returned, the woman accepted after that incident that the squirrel would leave her one day and would return to the wild.

They always find innovative ways to help animals. If any kid did this, it is really heartwarming. Here is one kid who at the age of 11 has found inspiring and unique ways to help shelter dogs and grabbed the title of ASPCA’s ‘Kid of the year’. The name of the kid is Evan Bisnauth, who is from Bronx, New York. He is passionate about helping dogs. He started his mission in 2019 when he and his mother found a dog tied to a fence and contacted Animal Care Centers of NYC. 

After that, he started visiting the shelter and began to spend time with the animals. According to Evan, when he met them, they are very scared and feel vulnerable. Evan said that he tried to help them feel that they are helped. He said that he sat with and talked with them. He has found a unique way to comfort the dogs and that’s by reading to them. 

According to him, reading out loud to dogs helps them to socialize and get used to human interaction. So that makes it easy for them to get adopted. Evan said that he first read to his dog when he was learning to read and write in school. He said that he liked reading to dogs because when he had done reading to the dogs he felt he had hope for them as they would get adopted. 

When the world was hit by the pandemic, Evan could not visit the dogs but at that time also, he found a unique way to help the dogs to find forever homes. He started making animated shorts, to tell about the shelter dogs and help find them homes. 

He said that he wanted to find a fun way to help the dogs and put them in a positive light. He said that in his videos he showed how much fun dogs used to do and that people should adopt them as a part of their family. He said that as he could not visit them, he could get them the exposure they needed. Though it is a thankless job, yet Evan was acknowledged for what he did. 

The ASPCA revealed the recipients of their 2021 Humane Awards and Evan was named ‘Kid of the Year’. It was an honor for his volunteer work. Though Evan is very busy yet he finds some time for his passion. He is hopeful of opening his own rescue organization one day. 

He is happy with the award he got but he feels that he has a lot of work to do. Thank you Evan for helping the shelter dogs and telling people that shelter dogs are not bad.

While these big cats are well-known in popular culture, they are extraordinarily rare due to poachers and habitat loss. The melanistic leopard has been dubbed Bagheera after the Jungle Book character and was seen in a park that calls itself the “Land of the Mowgli,” the Pench National Park. 

It’s the go-to name whenever these cats appear, it seems. In 2020, another black leopard, compared to Bagheera, went viral in the same park after a tourist caught the cat on video.

Or perhaps, to avoid the constant threat from poachers? 

They point to sightings of black leopards in Africa and Asia and black tigers in India’s Nandankanan National Park. We previously shared a story about a rare black leopard in Laikipia Wilderness Camp in Kenya.

  The firefighters took the 8 cubs out. The cubs were taken to the veterinary clinic where it turned out that they were fox cubs, not dogs. The doctors decided to keep the little foxes until they would be ready to be released into the wild.

He says, “At first, we thought it was just a few small twigs on the windowsill. We thought that the wind had moved it. Then we saw the squirrels making their nests.” A family of squirrels had built a nest and started a family right outside his window. 

Timm was a photographer, so this once-in-a-lifetime chance to see this in person gave him the opportunity to take pictures of the whole thing. Timm kept track of the family as they built their nest and grew up. He took the best pictures and put them all on his Facebook page. The photographer kept a close eye on this squirrel family and made sure to take a picture of them every day as they grew up. 

One of the photos that stands out the most is a group of squirrels sleeping peacefully together. Timm also says, “It was a stroke of luck that I could take a picture of the squirrels sleeping. They usually sleep in the nest, but that day it was hot, so they slept where I could see them.” Even though this is very simple, seeing it in person is very exciting. “It’s a very nice coincidence that they chose that spot,” the photographer added. The tiny creature was found on the Kangaroo Island, Australia, for the first time since the devastating wildfire that hit the region a year ago. Due to the catastrophic blaze nearly 90% of the island was destroyed with so many species thought to be wiped forever. 

However, it seems that things look better than initially thought as over 20 animal species, including pygmy possum have been discovered alive. The discovery had been made by the conservation group Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife. “This capture is the first documented record of the species surviving post-fire,” fauna ecologist Pat Hodgens told Guardian Australia.

Craig Wickham, the managing director of Exceptional Kangaroo Island explained for NewsWeek: 

“Despite nearly 90 percent of the tiny dunnart habitat lost to fires, numerous animal numbers have since been detected. Their sightings, via motion-sensing cameras, is heartening for the Island after fears that habitat destruction would decimate the threatened nocturnal marsupial recorded numbers of between 300 and 500.” 

Native to Kangaroo Island and Tasmania, there have been only 113 recorded sight of the pygmy possum which was also occasionally spotted in South Australia and Victoria. 

Weighing around 0,35 ounces, the possum is extremely hard to spot.

“He’s certainly not very common and, obviously, the summer bushfires burnt through much of that habitat that species had, but we were certainly hopeful that we would find them,” Pat Hodgens said.

“It’s very important now because it is kind of like the last refuge for a lot of these species that really rely on very old long, unburned vegetation.” 

Last year’s bushfire season was absolutely devastating and it left a very deep print on Australia’s biodiversity with nearly three billion animals gone due to the blaze!

When the Newton Fire Department in Massachusetts, got a call of a trapped raccoon, they knew they had a challenging rescue upfront. The firefighters had to be very precautious as any mistake could had lead into harming the confused animal or even the crew. 

However, it wasn’t the first time the firefighter team had to deal with a situation like this. “We sent our rescue company,” Capt. Eric Fricke of the Newton Fire Department told The Washington Post. “They have the tools and expertise for freeing people from things.” 

Since no one knew exactly for how long the the unlucky raccoon got stuck there, it was an around the clock mission for the rescue team. It was a cyclist that spotted the distressed animal and called the authorities. However, setting the raccoon free was harder than expected. The firemen initially used soap in order to grab the raccoon out, but it didn’t worked. 

So they removed the grate and after they got the approval by an animal rescue team, they sedated the animal.

“The raccoon ended up needing to be sedated so that it could relax enough, Capt. Fricke said. “It was fighting the whole process.” 

But in the end, after nearly two hours, the poor raccoon was finally rescued. “Everybody’s just happy that there was a positive outcome and they were able to get him out,” the captain added.

 
The firefighter department saluted the rescue on Twitter. “It was quite the operation,” they tweeted. “Always willing to help our 4 legged friends!,” the tweet also reads.

  The cute and adorable cat had owners whose names are Lisa and Dean. They thought that the cat was afraid of their dog named Hank. 

The African cat was named Spartacus. Lisa left the door open as the dog did not want to come in. The cat escaped from the open door. The owners tried to find the cat but useless. They called the Merrimack police department for a support. 

The neighbors told that they saw the African cat nearby. The couple decided to catch the cat using a trap. The African cat was found trapped to the house. Luckily, the four years old cat was found by the police officer. The cat was healthy and safe and was returned to her family. 

The cat lives indoors and likes to run freely in the house. The family is very thankful for all the people who helped to find their cat.

(A BBC filming team) Following a polar bear mother and her two tiny cubs, in their epic journey from the the Svalbard islands to the North Pole, the team witnessed an unexpectedly comical moment Soon as they reached the endless glacier, the hungry mother started to chase seals – polar bears main food source – hoping her two cubs will also develop their [hunting] skills. 

But the mother bear’s expectations are soon [ruined] as one of the cubs epically [fails] on her first lesson. Inspired by the fearless mother, the cub seems more determined than ever to catch her own dinner, but only to fell on her back with fear, when a baby seal found its way through the ice just in front of the bear. And clearly, the little one didn’t expect to this…! Typical boy!

Glad there’s a video cutest thing ever! Baby bears are so cute but so are baby seals. Beautiful how all kinds of babies can get along. The innocence of childhood…no matter what species. Maybe in years to come when bear is hunting he might remember seal and give him a day off lol.

  The hoglets (yes, baby hedgehogs are called hoglets and it's perhaps the cutest word I've ever heard) were found after their mother had been killed in an accident - tiny, blind and struggling for survival without their mother to protect them. Zoo staff scooped up the hoglets and took them into care. The zoo's team tried everything to get the eight hoglets to feed, but they refused milk from a bottle, syringe, and saucer for two days, even when they were placed on a heating pad to stimulate their digestion. 

It was clear: if the prickly little tykes didn't eat soon, they wouldn't make it. The fluffy black cat had recently raised and nursed a litter of foster kittens and still had milk to give.

Out of options, zoo staff decided to pair Musya and the hoglets together, hoping Musya's presence and milk would be enough to get the hedgehogs to eat. The hoglets reacted immediately, sensing Musya's natural warmth and smelling her milk. They burrowed right into her soft, fluffy belly and began nursing right away. 

Musya didn't seem to mind the strange-looking "kittens," though she's not afraid to give them a little scolding if they get too prickly. Musya nursed the hoglets for over a week and kept them warm and cozy at night. 

Thanks to their adopted cat mom, the hedgehogs made it through and are now munching happily on solid foods. Their hobbies (likely learned from Musya) include eating and sleeping.

As she inspected further, she realized the poor creature was a newborn baby squirrel who had probably fallen off his nest. 

The youngling was hurt and it didn’t seem like he would pull through, but Jessica decided to give him a fair chance to survive. Jessica brought the squirrel home and named him Steve, while embarking on a difficult mission to save his life. Steve was cold and in shock, so she kept him warm and fed him milk with syringes. 

After spending countless sleepless nights tending to him, she was relieved when Steve finally started growing up like a normal healthy squirrel! Jessica was ecstatic to be a fulltime squirrel mom and she did everything in her power to teach Steve some outdoor survival skills. 

She was mighty proud to see her pampered rescue baby growing into a big, wild adventurer! However, the inevitable happened when Steve left his cozy abode behind one day and disappeared entirely. Steve’s “moving out” was very hard on Jessica, but she eventually warmed up to the idea of her precious baby embracing his independence and blooming on his own. 

But just when she had lost all hope of seeing him again, Steve reappeared with a smile on his face and a massive surprise!

The humpback dolphins usually mingle with visitors at Barnacles Cafe & Dolphin Feeding at Tin Can Bay, north of the Sunshine Coast.

But it’s been weeks since visitors lined up to feed the animals due to coronavirus restrictions. Among the treasures the marine creatures have provided are sea sponges, barnacle-encrusted bottles and pieces of coral. 

“The pod has been bringing us regular gifts, showing us how much they’re missing the public interaction and attention,” said a post on the cafe’s Facebook page. “They are definitely missing you all.” A volunteer told the ABC while the pod has displayed the behaviour before, it had increased while the venue was closed. 

“Nothing surprises me with dolphins and their behaviour anymore,” told McGovern, a UQ PhD student. “They do everything - they use tools, they have culture, they have something similar to names in signature whistles. 

“In all likelihood, they probably don’t miss humans per se. They probably miss a free meal and the routine.” He speculated it may be a “play-like behaviour”. “They often play with bits of weed and coral and all sorts of things and just leave it on their rostrum (nose),” he said. 

“They’re used to getting fed now, so they’re used to humans coming in. “When it’s not happening, maybe it’s just out of boredom.”

This is what these tourists experienced when one amazing animal decided to jump into their jeep. It is really not a pleasant situation to be near such animals. This terrifying scene was captured on camera. Peter Heistein Peter Heistein and Britton Hayes were the guides of these tourists through the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. Britton is actually Peter’s stepson. He felt very upset when this big animal approached him. During that time, Peter filmed everything with a camera. 

Britton told Komo News that the animal approached to make sure no one wanted to harm her. This happened while tourists were watching other cheetahs. Then one of them jumped into the jeep. For Britton, this was really disturbing, but he remained calm regardless of the situation. 

This situation did not last long, yet Britton would probably disagree. He is happy to have managed to stay calm throughout this terrifying situation. Britton said it was definitely one of the scariest situations for him ever. As one might assume, fear was present. Still, everything went well and no one was hurt. 

He himself does not believe that everything went well and that the moment ended in a good way. Tourists could not believe what was happening.

One such dog is Loki, which is an Arctic wolf, husky and malamute mix and he is really very awesome. This handsome giant dog loves to accompany his dad on adventures. He is really energetic and playful and these qualities bring smiles to the people around him. Loki is very fond of his dad and follows him wherever he goes. 

He turns out to be a perfect travel partner for his dad and he can’t hide the excitement on his face. His dad, Kelly is an outdoor adventure professional and his duty requires him to visit new and adventurous places. 

He is very lucky to have such a wolfdog as a trustful friend. Both of them are the best travel partners for each other. They both love exploring new places. They both enjoy themselves a lot during these trips and they never miss to take photos together.
