Baby otter's adorable response after getting in a pool for the first time earns over 1.6 million views
Otters are known to be great swimmers since most of their species (13 in total) live in freshwater rivers, lakes, and wetlands. They are members of the weasel family and are found almost everywhere, except Australia and Antarctica.
When it comes to their physique, most otters are small and they have short ears and noses, long bodies, long tails, and their most notable feature is their dense fur.
Otters possess the densest fur among any other animal from any kingdom. They have as many as a million hairs per square inch in places.
Another unique thing about otters is their stinky poop. So extraordinary that their poop even has its own name, “spraints.”
According to National Geographic, “It’s thought to get its special odor, which some scientists describe as smelling like violets, from the seafood diet otters eat.”
When talking about being stinky, a fresh bath would definitely wash that foul odor away, wouldn’t it? And nothing beats this adorable baby otter’s reaction after getting the chance to experience being in a pool for the first time in his young life.
Meet this cute little otter, Tororo.
Tororo lives in Japan together with his biological mom, Otsuyu, another adult otter named Odashi, and of course, his human mom who runs their YouTube channel called ‘LOUTRE.’
This family also has two Instagram accounts, uuu_chaan with 127,000 followers, and loutreosaka with 24,000 followers.
Those numbers alone would immediately tell you that they’re quite famous not just in Japan but perhaps in many other countries across the world.
This video, in particular, has over 1.7 million views with tens of thousands of likes and over a thousand comments from people who were simply amused by the otters’ natural charisma.
Stinky Tororo needs a shower.
The video started with the baby otter still comfortably dozing on his bed while the other two adult otters had just woken up on a separate bed.
Shortly after waking up, his human mama decided to bathe him inside a tiny pool.
It was his first time to experience being in a pool and his human mama was kind of worried but also excited at the same time.
The water in the pool was not even an inch deep but the little otter was still skeptical about the idea.
Mama Odashi was also in the pool and off she went by cleaning baby Tororo’s fur, although the latter didn’t seem to like it that much.
The sound of protest.
At some point, Tororo really sounded annoyed by everything that’s happening. Perhaps, he didn’t want to be in the pool, he didn’t want mama Odashi to clean his fur, or he didn’t want to take a bath at all.
Whatever his reason for making such a sound, both his moms (otter and human) still managed to clean the little stinky otter.
When he was finally fresh and dry, mama Odashi gave his fur some finishing touches to make sure they’re all clean and glossy.
After having that quick dip in the little pool, Tororo went back to what he does best – sleeping. What an adorable little creature!

Flaty is training to be a nurse and is currently doing his internship at a hospital in Egypt.
His workload is incredibly taxing, but Flaty is powering through his shifts with impressive drive and dedication.
And though his breaks are few and far between, a little kitty decided to make one of his breaks as comforting and reinvigorating as possible.
Flaty was sitting outside the hospital with his friend and colleague when a little stray kitty walked up to him, climbed onto his lap, curled up, and fell asleep.
Flaty was surprised but touched by the little kitten’s trust in him, as stray animals in Egypt are often treated poorly and are, for that reason, wary of people.
But this little kitten was craving affection and company, and perhaps she sensed that Flaty could use a little comfort too.
She spent 20 minutes sleeping in Flaty’s lap before getting up and walking away.
The unexpected cuddle session left Flaty feeling better than he had in months.
“I had been on 12-hour shift continuously for like 20 days straight but that cat made all that seem like nothing,” Flaty told The Dodo, and said that meeting her was the best moment of his year.
Flaty hasn’t seen the little stray since their beautiful moment together, but he’s keeping an eye out for her every time he goes on break, and he’s deeply thankful for the serenity and comfort she brought him.

Bruno, a dog with one ear staying at North Carolina’s SPCA of Wake County, decided to make his “best friend” look just like him. And because of it, he’s now got a dad to look after him. Photos of Bruno’s handiwork went viral after SPCA of Wake County shared photos of the pooch with his newly one-eared stuffed toy.
“Bruno tore one of the ears off his favorite stuffed toy — the same ear he’s missing himself,” the shelter wrote on Facebook. “The staff member who found this couldn’t believe it, so she took these photos to show the rest of our team.”
The staff shared how Bruno’s past was far less sweet and that the way he lost his ear the furthest thing from cute.
“Bruno used to live chained up outside, and his ear was torn off when another dog attacked him, and he couldn’t run away,” the shelter shared.
“But Bruno knows there’s nothing wrong with him, and now he has a best friend just like him to prove it. You’re perfect just the way you are, Bruno.”
The SPCA told FOX10 that Bruno “came from a difficult situation” where he was tied up outside the entire year, through “freezing winters” and “hot N.C. summers,” and couldn’t escape his suffering.
The shelter quickly pointed out that despite the hardships he has endured Bruno is kind and sweet.
“You would never know he had such a tough start to life — despite his pouty eyes, he’s a very happy and loving guy, and his tail absolutely never stops wagging!” SPCA staff told FOX10. “He’s well-behaved, cuddly, and very smart.”
They added that he still likes other dogs and loves every person he meets.
Bruno’s endearing photos spread like wildfire online and the original post was shared over 50,000 times on Facebook. One man that read Bruno’s story decided the dog was the one for him.
“And just like that, Bruno has a new dad,” the SPCA wrote of the happy tails news. “Of course, his matching stuffie HAS to go with him so they can be buds forever.”
And go with him, the toy did as the SPCA shared in Bruno’s Freedom Walk video.
The shelter also shared that, “Bruno’s adopter loves him just the way he is and promised to show Bruno nothing but unconditional love for the rest of his life.”

A group of students came to the rescue of a dog that had fallen into a canal in Manchester, UK.
Students of Manchester Metropolitan University, Jack Spencer Furmston and Ben Camphor, were walking home when they saw a dog in the canal.
Jack and Ben, along with a few other passersby, worked together to rescue the dog from the canal.
"Everyone was panicking. I couldn't let that dog down and not help, so I put my jumper down and sprung into action, climbing down first," Ben said.
The group look elated as they finally manage to hoist the dog out of the canal and back to safety.

When a young father went to the local animal shelter to look at chickens, the last thing he was expecting to come home with was a puppy. But when he saw a black-and-white pup with a cleft lip just like his son’s, he knew the sweet dog would make a perfect addition to the family.
As you can see from the photos, Little Bentley, who’s now aged two, was so delighted to meet his new best friend.
As for the team at Michigan’s Jackson County Animal Shelter? They’re equally happy to see the “instant love” between the two-month-old pup and Bentley.
Writing on Facebook, they said, “It’s so hard to put into words how meaningful this adoption is to all of us… We wish many years of joy as this special pair grow up together!”

Mr. Fitzwater works at a coal mine, and one day he noticed a dog hanging around. He didn’t think much of it until he saw her a few more times and she started coming up to him.
He figured she must be homeless, so he brought her home! Someone had abandoned the dog there to fend for herself, but now Sadie Kate has her place in the world. 🙂

These two mother elephants were raised in Thailand, where the elephants live close and are cared for by humans. At an elephant barn, a large mother elephant is trying to wake up her baby elephant.
It seemed that the baby elephant was sleeping soundly on the warm grass and the weather was perfect for sleeping.
However, it’s time to eat. Mother elephants have a lot of milk and baby elephants need to drink enough milk to grow. So the mother elephant wakes up the baby with her trunk.
Her gentle actions show great love for her son. She used her trunk to gently touch the baby elephant to wake it up, continuously.
The sleepy baby elephant opened its eyes but didn’t wake up. He was sleeping soundly, so he continued to sleep.
The mother elephant very patiently used her trunk to push him up. She is very gentle with her son. She did not lose her temper but waited and walked around her child.
After quite a while, the baby elephant woke up. He immediately ran towards his mother and hid under her large body. He walks unsteadily and constantly leans on his mother’s legs. His eyes showed sleepiness. The mother elephant still held her trunk towards her son to make sure he didn’t fall.

Love and kindness coming at the right time can save one’s life. It happens with both humans and animals. The 14-week-old mountain lion cub in this story is a great example. The little abandoned lion was found starving and severely dehydrated by firefighters. Thankfully, she was rescued and cared for, becoming healthy and thriving now. Scroll down to know more!
In September, the firefighters from the Vista Grande Fire Station spotted a mountain lion cub near a road in Idyllwild, Southern California.
Her condition then was extremely terrible: starving, severely dehydrated, and weighed less than 11 pounds.
Thankfully, the poor little cub was saved. The firefighters contacted the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for some help.
The department then contacted the San Diego Humane Society, and they decided to take the little lion in. She was given specialized care in the shelter and after five weeks, she is healthy and thriving.
“She received daily fluid therapy and medications. Within a couple of weeks, she progressed from five to three small, nutritious meals per day.
They include ground proteins with milk replacer, to allow her body a slow transition to solid foods. We are happy to report, she has more than doubled in weight to 22 pounds!” Nina Thompson, the director of public relations at the San Diego Humane Society told the media.
Currently, the mountain lion cub is active and responsive. She is still being involved in the treatment to make a full recovery. Looking forward to hearing more good news from her!

Elderly woman finally marries her 'true love' 42 yrs after her mom objected to their interracial marriage
True love always finds its way back, and this holds true for Jeanne and Stephen Watts. They fell in love with each other in 1971 but could not marry because of the objection from Jeanne's family.
However, 42 years later, they got married and are making up for all the "lost years." Jeanne told PEOPLE, "When he proposed, I said, 'A thousand times yes!'"
Unfortunately, it did not work out because Jeanne's mother objected to marrying a Black man. "She just went ballistic," Jeanne said, adding, "She didn't want this relationship to happen at all."
Jeanne said, "I was completely overwhelmed by everything." She added, "The family issue was always weighing on me because it fractured the relationship between my mother and myself forever. She was always my mother and I always loved her, but it affected our relationship for the rest of my life."
A few months later, they both were ready to get married. They said "I do" on October 15, 2022, with about 65 guests at their home. Jeanne said, "We can spend the rest of our lives together making plans."
They first met when she was a freshman and he was a senior at Chicago's Loyola University. "He was my first love. He was my true love," she said.
However, they still managed to date for seven years. But once Jeanne graduated nursing school and got a job, the meetings became difficult because it included a long commute and Stephen did not have a car.
The two had spoken about marriage but Jeanne was scared to take the next step. She would have lost her "entire family." And one day while doing her shift at the nurse's station, she told Stephen, "I love you, but I just can't do this."
It was an ending that they both didn't want and were left heartbroken. "I regretted it then, I regretted the way I did it, but I did it," said Jeanne.
For the next four decades, they were not in touch and were living their separate lives. It was in 2021 when things began to change for the better. Jeanne who was a divorced retiree whose mother had also passed away decided to look for Stephen again.
She couldn't find him on social media. "Everything came up a dead end when I tried to search for him," said Jeanne. "There was virtually no trace of him." Thankfully, in April, she found the mailing addresses of his niece and wrote a letter to her. She told him that he was in a nursing home.

Jeanne said, "I needed to know, Was he okay? Was he married? Would he forgive me?"
The moment she entered his room, he recognized her, said her name, and began to cry. "I knew he still loved me," she said. In August of the same year, Jeanne moved in with Stephen and has been with him since then. Stephen told PEOPLE, "She is wonderful. She is my heart and soul," adding "I want to live with her always."
She added, "I gladly took his last name. I've wanted it for a long time." Her last name was Gustavson earlier.

What would you do to save your pet’s life? For many pet owners, there’s no limit: people have scraped together the cash to pay off even the steepest vet bills, if it means keeping their best friend alive.
Recently, one man was faced with a whopping $20,000 vet bill to save his beloved dog, and was willing to sell his house to make it happen. But thankfully, a miracle happened instead.
Jaxon Feeley, from Wigan, England, is the owner of a 2-year-old Weimaraner named Rambo, and last month he experienced every dog owner’s nightmare as the young dog suddenly became seriously ill.
“She began vomiting throughout the night over 30 times and by Saturday morning we were in the emergency vets,” Feeley wrote. Rambo had gone into hypovolemic shock, and also had gastroenteritis.
The dog spent many days in intensive care, and though her condition stabled, her medical bills soon began to add up.
“Rambo’s insurance has covered her up to £6500. Her bill is now up to £11,500 after 1 week in care,” Feeley wrote. “It is unknown how long Rambo will need to stay at the vets and intensive care costs is approximately £1000 per day. If the worst happens and Rambo requires major surgery, the cost of this as well as the aftercare is something I need to be able to give my little baby girl.”
Despite the astronomical cost, Feeley said he would do whatever it takes to provide his beloved pet with the care she needs, even if it meant selling his own home to get the money.
“There was no way in hell I was ever going to give up on this gorgeous girl, she is just a little baby, with a want to live and be happy with her big brother Rocky and the Feeleys,” the owner wrote.

It raised more than Feeley could have dreamed of: as of this writing, the fundraiser has made over £25,000, more than doubling the initial £10,000 goal.
Feeley received even better news: Rambo’s condition continued to improve to the point where she was finally able to come home, he wrote in a February 4 update.
“Over the last 3 days, Rambo has pulled off a miracle, hour by hour she has increased her oxygen efficiency, started eating and drinking, her lungs are slowly recovering and we started to see that beautiful little personality resurface. She got herself into a little routine of seeing me for 10 minutes every 4 hours that she even knew what corner of the waiting room to find me in.”
Feeley and Rambo are now home together, and thanks to the kind donation of strangers they’ll be able to afford any care Rambo needs.
“There are no words to express how grateful I am for everyone’s love, support & donations over the last 2 weeks. It genuinely means more than you will ever know,” he wrote.
It’s true that people will do anything for their pets, and it’s inspiring how determined this owner was to keep his dog alive.

Chester Zoo overjoyed as it celebrates birth of its first ever Aardvark!
Conservationists discovered the new arrival snuggled up with its eight-year-old mum Oni and six-year-old dad Koos after it had been born overnight on January 4.
The calf, born with large droopy ears, hairless wrinkled skin and giant claws, is currently being hand-reared every evening by zookeepers who are providing dedicated care, feeding the baby every few hours through the night for around five weeks, to help it gain strength.
It’s nice but it’s also sad that animals are evolving to have babies successfully in captivity.
Staff have nicknamed the youngster Dobby due to its resemblance to the much-loved Harry Potter character.
Aardvarks are native in sub-Saharan Africa where they are threatened by habitat loss as a result of agricultural development, which also bring them into conflict with local farmers. They are also hun.ted for their meat.
The nocturnal animals use their long noses and keen sense of smell to sniff out ants and termites, which they lap up with a long tongue measuring up to 25cm, covered in sticky saliva.
They use their powerful claws to tear open termite mounds, as well as to dig underground burrows in which they sleep.
This is the very first aardvark to be born at the zoo and so it’s a momentous landmark.
Aardvarks are quite secretive creatures, which are mostly only ever active in darkness, and so some aspects of how they go about their lives remain relatively unknown.
Caring for species like aardvarks in zoos enables us to learn more about them – how they live, their behaviors and their biology.
So amazing how a baby loves its mama from the start.
This new calf joins a conservation breeding program that only a handful of zoos are part of globally.

A man in Kazakhstan risked his life to save a three-year-old girl from falling from an eighth-floor window.
The toddler apparently used cushions to climb to the window ledge before she slipped, and was left hanging from her fingertips. She was reportedly left home alone while her mother went out shopping.
Sabit Shontakbaev, 37, was on the way to work when they noticed the commotion. He rushed into the building and knocked on the door of the apartment below the girl's.
He then made his way to the window.
"Afterwards, I went straight to work with my friend. Nobody knew that this would happen. I just saved the child and left, and in the news and social networks they suddenly began to call me a hero. I do not consider my actions heroic. To me, everyone should lend a helping hand in such situations."
The local media reported that Shontakbaev was awarded a three-bedroom apartment for his actions.
The new apartment will mean his family, which includes his three daughters and a son, can join him in the city.

“Siberian Huskies are vocal. They rarely bark but will whine, or moan, and also chirp and howl. Head held high, they will produce one of the most haunting songlike sounds. Now, this Siberian song fest may be music to the ears of a Siberian and the Siberian Husky fancier, but the neighborhood may not agree,” RescueEveryDog.org writes.
But it’s this very attribute that enabled a lost Siberian Husky to be reunited with his owner.
A Siberian Husky had been reported as missing by his owner who lives in the city of Beer Sheva in the Southern District of Isreal, according to Daily Mail.
A dog fitting the description was found by a group of teenagers in a field at an archeological site outside of Beersheba.
The teens brought the weakened and malnourished dog to the Israeli police.
The officers brought the dog to a police station outside of the city and administered some aid to it, The Jerusalem Post reports.
The officers then reached out to the man who reported that his dog was missing. They told the man to drive over to see if it was, in fact, his dog.
But the man had a better idea.
He said there was a quick and easy way to identify his dog. He told the police to play the dog’s favorite songs. If the Siberian Husky sang along, they’d know it was his dog.
So, the officers did just that. They played the dog the theme song to his favorite Israeli TV show “Shemesh,” which was taken off the air in 2004, and the theme song for the Canadian/American children’s programme “Arthur” titled “Believe In Yourself” by Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers.
It wasn’t long before the Siberian Husky started belting out in an epic sing-a-long. The Israeli police captured the dog’s performance on video. The dog looked so joyous to be singing his favorite songs. Perhaps it reminded him of home.
The officers were overjoyed to tell the dog’s owner that they found his dog. He rushed on over to the police station to see his lost pup. The two were absolutely overjoyed to see each other again.
It was quite the emotional reunion as the dog happily licked his owner’s face while his owner sobbed.
“I cried the whole way here,” the man said hugging his dog and talking to the officers. “You poor thing. Thank you, thank you so much.”

By the year 2020, Officer Michael Rivers had already spent nine years working for the Goldsboro Police Department in North Carolina. During this period of time, he became quite familiar with the faces of the homeless people who lived in his community. As a result, he is now able to recognize them when he sees them on the streets. However, during the course of one week, he noticed a woman whose face he had never seen in the area before, and something about her compelled him to take a closer look. As Rivers drove past her, the woman, who was wearing a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt with a powerful statement written on it, made eye contact with Rivers and responded with a straightforward “hey” as he drove by.
Rivers, however, disclosed in an interview with CNN that he was preoccupied with the brief encounter even after it had passed. Something kept nagging at him to turn around and talk to the woman who was sporting a t-shirt with the words “Homeless. The fastest way of becoming a nobody” written on it. The 29-year-old finally decided that he’d go back to the spot he’d seen her during his lunch break.
“God put it on my heart to get her lunch,” said Rivers. “So I turned around and I asked her, ‘Hey, did you eat today?’ And she said, ‘No.'”
Rivers went to a nearby pizza shop and purchased pepperoni and cheese pizzas. He then sat down next to her on the grass and the two of them engaged in one of the most thought-provoking conversations he has ever had.
He said that the conversation that they had was even better than the pizza that they had shared. After exchanging life stories with the homeless woman, who he said identified herself as Michelle, during his lunch break, he came to the conclusion that he and she had something in common.
River found out that Michelle has a daughter who is 12 years old, is battling liver disease, and was in foster care. Michelle’s daughter was placed with River’s family.
After lunch together, Michelle and Rivers went their separate ways, and the police officer couldn’t help but reflect on the ways in which his new friend and he are perceived by society in the same way. People who are homeless are frequently stigmatized by society and told they are to blame for their precarious living conditions.
Rivers came to the conclusion that society as a whole has a somewhat negative view of law enforcement officers because it concentrates on the “bad apples” in the profession rather than looking at law enforcement officers as a whole.
But, as Rivers pointed out,”homeless people are just people who are down on their luck,” Rivers said. “It can happen to anybody.” As for himself, he revealed that he didn’t set out to be a police officer because he wanted to ruin a person’s day.
“I come to work and my method is, ‘Who can I bless today? Who can I make smile?'” Rivers said. “I’m not the one that wants to take somebody’s father or mother away and put them in jail.”
The birth of a small human brother taught this dog the meaning of love!
Mosley is a 4-year-old Greyhound who has spent his life in the dog racing industry, where he is accustomed to the noise and a large number of dogs.
He was overjoyed after being adopted by Scott Merrihew’s family.
However, on the day they brought Mosley home, he was concerned about separation and wanted to protect his space.
Scott’s family was concerned that Mosley disliked them, but this was not!
Just the confused dog doesn’t know how to return human affection and kindness!
But Scott’s family did not give up; it took a lot of patience with him over the years to make him comfortable because he was living life off the track!
Mosley became particularly interested in Scott’s wife when she became pregnant. He cuddles her even more as the pregnancy progresses as if he knows a miracle is on the way!
Baby Lucas Merrihew was born about a week ago, and Mosley adores him. Mosley is overjoyed and wants to be close to Lucas, but he knows how to keep his distance for fear of inadvertently hurting the baby.
He’s really sweet!
Mosley is permitted to enter the baby’s room at night, when the cat must remain outside on the balcony!
The way he kisses the baby is extremely emotional; it comes from the heart!
When the baby grows up, they will undoubtedly be best friends. That is fantastic!

A teenager from Mississippi is being labeled a hero after he leapt into action to save four people, including a police officer, from drowning. According to Good Morning America, 16-year-old Corion Evans was on hand to witness a vehicle drive straight into the Pascagoula River in Moss Point, Mississippi. The car began floating about 20 feet from the shore, before quickly starting to sink with its three passengers, all teenage girls, trapped inside.
A statement released by the Moss Point Police Department said: “The driver of that vehicle stated she was following her GPS and did not realize she was going into the water.”

The brave teenager, a student at Pascagoula High School, told WLOX: “I was just like, ‘I can’t let none of these folks die. They need to get out the water’.
“So, I just started getting them. I wasn’t even thinking about nothing else.”
One of Corion’s friends reportedly also entered the river to help the girls get onto the roof of the sinking car.
Corion added: “I just started getting them. I wasn’t even thinking about nothing else.”

Luckily, Corion spotted Officer Mercer and was able to rescue him, too.
“I turned around. I see the police officer. He’s drowning. He’s going underwater, drowning, saying, ‘Help!'” Corion recalled.
“So, I went over there. I went and I grabbed the police officer and I’m like swimming him back until I feel myself I can walk.” The three teenage girls and Officer Mercer were transported to hospital. All are expected to make a full recovery.
Moss Point Chief Brandon Ashley said in a statement: “The police department and I commend Mr. Evans’s bravery and selflessness he displayed by risking his own safety to help people in danger.
“If Mr. Evans had not assisted, it could have possibly turned out tragically instead of all occupants rescued safely.”

The 16-year-old’s proud mother, Marquita Evans, told WLOX: “I’m glad nothing happened to him while he was trying to save other people’s lives.
“I was really proud of Corion because he wasn’t just thinking about himself. He was trying to really get all those people out the water.”
Corion added that he has been swimming since he was three years old.
“Twenty-five yards out, so it was a lot of swimming. My legs were so tired after,” he said. “Anything could’ve been in that water, though. But I wasn’t thinking about it.”
Thank God that Corion was on hand to help and showed a courage all of us can admire. Thanks to him, these three girls – and indeed Officer Mercer – were saved at the last minute.
