In this clip shared by the family, we see the mama bear and her 5 cubs totally enjoying the refreshing pool and other play accessories lying around in the backyard. 

So while some of the bear cubs wrestle each other in the pool, the rest get busy working out the family’s swing and slide set. 

As for the mama bear, she nonchalantly oversees her kids while lounging in the cool rejuvenating water! We love how each member of the Basso family had their own unique perspective of the bear visit in the background conversation. 

Their little kid was thrilled at first but later got pretty stressed about the bear cubs “stealing” her floaties. Dad seemed equally bummed upon realizing that the bears were probably poking holes in the pool. 

However, Mom was surely having a blast witnessing the rare bear adventure unfolding in front of her eyes. Despite the overall wholesomeness of the bear family’s fun pool party, there is a moment that causes the Bassos to panic. 

The mama bear grabs the pool’s plugged-in electric pump and starts fiddling around with it, even bringing it in contact with the water. Luckily, the situation was brought under control and everyone was safe and sound! Do keep your volume up for this delightful clip!

She loaded them into a pet carrier to keep them safe until she could come up with a plan. That’s when she got the idea to drive them to nearby South Winds Golf Club where a wild duck named Stella had recently given birth to nine ducklings of her own in one of the course’s ponds. Pro golfer Chris Grandy filmed the moment the ducklings were dumped into the pond, and what happened next he described as “the most precious kind of thing I’ve ever witnessed.” 

As soon as the ducklings hit the water, Stella swam over to them right away as if she realized they were without a mom and needed help. She gathered them up and led them back with her family and adopted them on the spot. 

Isn’t it amazing? Stella’s maternal instinct kicked in, and now the 10 ducklings are back to living a normal life with a new mom.

  This incredible dog, used for breeding, was found after a house fire. 

It’s hard to imagine how an animal who had been through such a harrowing experience could still manage to smile through the pain. But that’s exactly what she did, capturing the hearts of everyone who saw her. When Lotus was first brought to her new home, she wasn’t fearful. Instead, she seemed to be looking for a place to rest her head. 

For the first couple of months, she didn’t leave the house due to her injuries. It was during this time that she formed a strong bond with her new mama, Kristen. As she began to heal, she was finally able to venture outside and explore her new surroundings. 

One of the most endearing things about Lotus is that she lies in the middle of the sidewalk, waiting for someone to come by and pet her. It was clear that she craved love and attention. The first time Kristen saw Lotus truly excited and mobile was when she discovered her love for a pink piggy toy. She would proudly carry her piggy toy around in her mouth, wagging her tail and showing off her newfound happiness. 

The toy was so special to her. It was as if they were soulmates! To celebrate her love for the piggy toy, her mom set up a surprise in the hallway: an array of piggy toys of different sizes for her to choose from. 

The sight of so many toys seemed to overwhelm her at first, but it was clear that she was in her element. Now, she has enough inspirational toys to last her a lifetime. Lotus has become an inspiration to all who meet her. Her story teaches us that through love and motivation, healing is possible! She may be scarred on the outside, but her heart is flawless! Despite her trauma, Lotus has found her bliss with her new mom. 

Her infectious smile and tail wags say it all! Thank you to her rescuers and to Kristen for giving Lotus the ‘pawfect’ life!

She said that her family was asleep when they heard an unbelievable crash coming from her kitchen. When the family looked for the origin of that noise, they were surprised to find Boonchuay’s head poking through the broken wall, rummaging around for salty snacks. 

Wildlife veterinarian Dr. Pattarapol Maneeon of USAID explained to the press that elephants cannot find the salt they need from natural resources during the rainy season, so they come over to the local villages in hopes of finding something salty there. 

Pattarapol Maneeon, a veterinarian from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, explained that it is possible that there are not enough salty foods in the wild during the rainy season, forcing the elephants to look for salt in local villages.

  The elephant was scared away by the residents, but he left a rather large mess behind.

The UPS Dogs Facebook page celebrates these friendships with so many stories of drivers who not only deliver parcels but treats and toys for these dogs. One such driver Katie Newhouser loves all the dogs she encounters on her daily route, but it was one dog in particular that she fell in love with. It was that special bond that would be called on when this lovable pooch found himself homeless. 

Katie Newhouser loves dogs; not only does she have three of her own but also loves hanging out with all the dogs on her delivery route. However, one dog held a special place in her heart: a pit bull called Leo. “He would always start barking as I pulled into the condo complex……He would always jump into my truck when I stopped,” Katie wrote in a Facebook post. Katie even made friends with Leo’s owner Tina who told her that her son had found Leo when he was a puppy and he had to be bottle fed. Katie received some devastating news 

“They (Tina and Leo) were very very close and did everything together,” Katie told PEOPLE. “I don’t think that dogs ever forget anyone who they have been that close to.” But Katie received some heartbreaking news in July 2017 when she discovered that her friend Tina, Leo’s mom, had passed away. 

After the shock had passed, she started to worry about what would happen to Leo so she reached out to Tina’s son Cannon and asked if he was going to take Leo in. Cannon told her he couldn’t as was an active duty Marine, according to Animal Channel. Katie decided to adopt Leo herself, despite already having three dogs. “It was probably confusing for him at first, [but] he has adapted well,” Katie said. “He and his brother Moose are inseparable. Bailey, his sister, has taken a while to come around, [but] they actually play now … once Leo was introduced into the house, the whole vibe changed.”

Katie shared the good news on the UPS Dogs Facebook page and her post received thousands of comments celebrating Leo’s new home. This is Leo …. he would always start barking as I pulled into the condo complex……He would always jump into my… Even though Leo misses his mom Tina he was able to find a new home with someone who adores him. Kiko was left homeless shortly after that. After being taken up by the New York City-based animal rescue organization Mighty Mutts in 2014, Kiko has since been actively seeking out the best possible home. As Mighty Mutts’ Jill Haynes put it, “We’ve all been very involved with Kiko for the past year and a half; it’s so exciting to see him find his home.” 

Kiko needs a particularly unique kind of shelter because of his advanced age and hearing loss. A couple that was convinced they would make Kiko’s ideal family contacted Mighty Mutts after reading about Kiko on The Dodo. 

On Thursday evening, the couple showed up to pick up Kiko and take him to his expected home. Kiko has a clear sense of excitement. On the Mighty Mutts Facebook page, Kiko’s new home was announced with the following words: “On Thursday night, he went to a great couple who are completely obsessed on him. They discovered he was the ideal dog for them after reading the widely shared story about him in The Dodo. As Kiko waited to find his permanent home, Casey Ryan, his foster mother, was a genuine hero to him. Foster families are essential to the care of the pets saved by Mighty Mutts. 

Casey stated to The Dodo before to Kiko’s adoption that “He’s a great, older, hero dog and he deserves a forever home where he will be pampered and loved unconditionally.” Mighty Mutts is always searching for foster families in New York City to care for its loyal dogs while they wait to find their forever homes.

This massive guy is allowed to eat however much he wants, a method that has kept him healthy. This means he eats about five gallons of grain and a bail and a half of hay in a single day. Plus, he washes it all down with two bathtubs worth of water. Personality wise, Tommy is the definition of a gentle giant. He’s always been a calm and kind creature, including towards children who love to visit him. He had already made a name for himself locally, but now Tommy can officially say he’s a record-breaking steer — according to Guinness World Records, he’s the largest living steed! I have a feeling he plans on celebrating this impressive feat with lots and lots of yummy food. 

 “He’s like our pet,” Fred said. “He’s just something to be proud of, and I really, really like the guy. He’s everybody’s friend up here. Everybody knows Tom.”

  Mimi’s owner, Edna Kobori, doesn’t know exactly when this relationship started, but the visits are definitely a thing they both look forward to each day.

That’s when Caroline came into her life and decided to take her home. Ever since then, Brisbane has blossomed into an amazing dog, and their bond has grown stronger than ever. Caroline describes her relationship with Brisbane as something she’s never experienced with a dog before. 

Over time, Brisbane has grown closer and closer to her, creating a unique and special connection. Brisbane now sleeps right by Caroline’s head, snuggled between her mom and dad. She lets Caroline pick her up and gets super excited when she comes home from work. Caroline wishes she could talk to dogs, especially those who have been through difficult experiences. She would love to tell them that they’re in a safe space now and that nobody will hurt them. 

However, she believes that actions speak louder than words and building trust with a dog takes time and patience. Brisbane’s personality is quirky and unique, setting her apart from other dogs. She does silly little things that not many dogs do. 

Brisbane is also incredibly intelligent, learning tricks at lightning speed. Caroline’s other dog, Kibble, is more laid back and adorably lazy. One of Brisbane’s amusing habits is being a “spot stealer.” Whenever someone gets up from their place on the couch, she quickly goes and lays right in the same spot. Caroline chose the name Brisbane, or Brissy for short, because she met her husband in Brisbane, Australia. This was the first dog they got together. Caroline wanted to see Brisbane’s personality come out of its shell, and it certainly did. 

While she loves her older dog, Kibble, Brisbane’s lively and spirited nature has brought a new level of joy and companionship to her life. In the end, Caroline wants Brisbane to know that she is loved and safe now. 

Their story is a testament to the power of adoration, patience, and understanding. Finally knowing she’s safe, the once-timid dog has blossomed into the perfect companion.

The dog gave birth to a litter of 11 puppies just a few days ago and surprised Stevoni by picked up one by one and placing them gently on her lap. The beautiful moment was caught on video.

  Stevoni believes that Graycee, being a first time mother, wanted some reassurance. “She laid on me and wanted me to love her too,” Doyle said. “She would crawl on my lap and nurse my puppies if I would let her.” 

Despite having fostered over 100 dogs, Stevoni finds the bonding experience with with a pregnant dog to be very special and she plans on continuing to do so. But she knows that what Graycee did is extra special. “She’s the first one that has ever brought them over and been like, ‘here you go.’” 

A note for people who may be wondering why the room is so bare, a friend of Stevoni and the rescue organization explained on reddit that bare rooms are “typically used as birthing/puppy rooms as puppies simply cannot manage their bodily functions well enough to be allowed free range of the house (unless you have all concrete floors and a high tolerance for mopping), quite aside from the safety hazards potentially present to a young puppy (or human). 

“Once the puppies are old enough they will graduate to other areas of the home (pending potty training progress etc), and once they are old enough to be spayed/neutered and live on their own without mom around they become available for adoption.” 

The puppies and mama will be available for adoption through Red Rover.

The 18-year-old who lives in the San Diego area of California was at his home when he encountered the reptile. He was busying himself doing laundry when he heard the dryer cycle end. His family’s dryer was outside behind the home, so he had to go out to check on his laundry, and that is where he came face-to-face with the rattlesnake. That is when the seven-year-old Labrador, Marley, came to his rescue. 

As Alex explained to NBC San Diego, “Before I could even turn, Marley had run out the door, pushed me out of the way, and gotten in between the snake and me.” The rattlesnake ended up biting Marley. Alex was scared for his dog, thinking that he was going to die. As he stated, he was terrified that the bite meant that he was going to lose his “best friend.” As soon as the snake fled the site, he was able to jump into action. 

Both Alex and his mother rushed to get Marley to their local vet’s office, but they were unable to treat him there according to a GoFundMe post. Instead, they told him to go to a veterinary hospital 25 minutes away! The entire ride over to the vet, all Alex could worry about was that his dog was going to end up passing away before he even made it to the hospital to get a fighting chance. Luckily, they got him there just in the nick of time, and the vet was able to treat Marley for his injuries. 

According to the GoFundMe, the vet told Alex that Marley was in critical condition and “they would do everything they can to save him, but they will need the ‘resources’ to continue his treatment first.” They quoted him $9,000, which Alex didn’t have. After emptying his savings and opening a credit line with the vet’s office, he was able to get the life-saving treatment that Marley needed. The dog had ended up getting bitten on the tongue and neck. 

Despite such a severe injury, after two days at the vet’s office, Marley was able to return home, though it wasn’t without some nerve damage. Alex updated the GoFundMe, stating that Marley was healing well, though he’d need regular check-ups and months of B vitamins. 

However, he was able to end his expensive therapy which they expected would need to last much longer for Marley’s recovery. The beautiful dog is now being honored as a hero, and we’re so glad he’s healing and getting back to himself.

This beloved African tortoise, affectionately named Biscuit, escaped from their home and found themselves in distress near the New River Canal. 

Thanks to the quick response and dedication of local authorities and animal control officers, Biscuit’s story has a happy ending. Biscuit’s big adventure started after a particularly strong rainstorm. Lamoine Howard, Biscuit’s owner, noticed that the storm had damaged the backyard gate. He briefly considered an immediate repair to the gate, but decided to postpone the fix until the weekend. 

“It’s happened before with rainstorms,” Lamoine commented. “And he never gets out. He just doesn’t go anywhere, right? Sure enough, he got out.” With the gate cracked open slightly, the 80-lb tortoise bulldozed his way through and ventured out into the unknown. Sheriff’s deputies spotted Biscuit in distress along the New River Canal and promptly alerted the parish animal control team. Animal control officers Curt Trepagnier and Isreal Millet sprang into action, wading through the canal’s waters to reach the stranded tortoise. 

“We don’t normally do these things.” Ascension animal control director Megan Choate said. “Normally we stick with cats and dogs, but he needed to get out that canal and our team got him out.” Ascension Parish government officials and Cara’s House, the local animal shelter, posted pictures of the lost tortoise on social media, hoping to find its owner. Upon seeing the posts, a co-worker contacted Lamoine, who quickly recognized his beloved pet. 

With Biscuit safely back with his family, the incredible journey of the lost tortoise came to a heartwarming conclusion. The quick response and collaboration between law enforcement, animal control officers, and the local community showcased the power of unity and compassion. 

Biscuit’s escapade also serves as an important reminder to always make sure your pets — large and small, have a safe and secure place to stay while you’re away! In a world full of uncertainties, the story of Biscuit, the lost tortoise, serves as an inspiration. 

It reminds us of the importance of community and the profound connection we share with our animal companions.

  Every day, Joan Potters spends hours carefully sewing high-quality dog beds from fabric scraps left over from the Greater San Antonio Quilting Guild. "I just am happy to do it for them and to know that some dog is going to be comfortable," Potters told KSAT. 

"It makes me feel so good to know that they're not going to be laying on cement or a hard floor or in the winter." Potters cuts up rags for days and uses them to stuff the beds. Volunteers from local churches occasionally help her with the sewing and deliveries. Potters makes around 30 to 40 dog beds every month. 

"I get tired, but I'll just keep doing it until I can't do it anymore," Potters said. "You know their bones ache, too. You know they have feelings. They can't talk to us in our language, but look at their eyes and the expression on their face. They all have expressions and I just love them," she said.

She persisted in yelling that a dog needed help. At first apprehensive, the riders ultimately went to check what was going on. The Pit Bull mix that was affixed to a concrete support beam just underneath the road was noted by the woman.She couldn’t move up or down since she was suspended between 15 and 20 feet in the air. 

She was probably dumped there. A handyman stopped to investigate what the ruckus was about while the riders were working out how to get to the dog. Unexpectedly, he had a ladder in his car. 

Chris Williamson, a biker, descended the ladder to get closer to the dog. He sat next to her for around 15 minutes while attempting to gain her trust. Williamson took up the puppy when she showed signs of comfort around him and transferred her to the persons above him. 

They laid her down softly after cradling her like a baby. The dog seems happy to have reached safety.

The clip was captured in Canada's Yukon about eight kilometres southeast of Whitehorse in 2020, but was only recently released in an article by Thomas Jung, a researcher at the University of Alberta. The dark-coated lynx was filmed on a cellphone from around 50 metres away, hence the shaky, pixellated video. Jung explained in the article, published in the journal Mammalia that the lynx seemed relatively unperturbed by the presence of humans, but "likely left the area due to the dog’s barking." 

Several Canada lynx experts were consulted to help positively identify the animal and, despite the low-resolution video, they confirmed it was indeed a melanistic lynx. Screenshots from the clip show whitish, grey hairs across the cat's body that are more pronounced on its face and back. 

Given the quality of the photos and video, a detailed examination of coat colour was not possible, Jung explains, but notes that the observation is still of "scientific value with respect to documenting coat colour aberrations in the genus Lynx." Canada lynx typically sport a silver-grey coat in winter which turns reddish brown in summer. 

Although there are a handful of records of cats with a bluish grey pelage, Jung's discovery marks the first time a black lynx has been documented. Elsewhere, dark-coloured wild cats are not unheard of. Around one third of all felids are reported to show signs of melanism, a genetic condition that gives rise to black coats. 

In some cases, the inky colouration may help the cats blend into the dappled light of their forested habitats, but it's unclear if melanism would help or hinder a lynx. 

If stalking on recently burned boreal forests, a darker coat could help the lynx blend in, but Jung theorises that it would affect the cat's ability to hunt on snow-covered landscapes. "Melanistic individuals would be at a distinct disadvantage when hunting hares during winter. Indeed, with increased competition by coyotes (Canis latrans) a concern for Canada lynx encountering increasingly shallow snow as a result of climate change, the added disadvantage of lost camouflage to melanistic lynx hunting hares during winter would likely result in melanism being maladaptive."

  The Pallas’s cats, also known as manuls, somehow managed to remain undetected until 2019. There are at least two of them living somewhere along Mount Everest’s Southern Flank. 

The discovery is extremely valuable for researchers and conservationists worldwide — and insanely cute for everyone else. Pallas’s cats are about the same size as regular house cats with a few adorable differences. Their legs are very short and their fur is thick and fluffy, making them look like chubby little stuffed animals. 

They’re actually smaller and lighter than they look, as they’re mostly all fur, which insulates them from the cold. Climbing rocky crevices and cliff faces is easy for them, so it makes sense they’d pick somewhere like Mount Everest to live. 

These wild animals are aggressive and definitely can’t be kept as pets, but their pictures alone are enough to spread massive amounts of joy. Their wide faces and big ears make them look like cartoon characters, just hopping around Mount Everest, minding their business. “It is phenomenal to discover proof of this rare and remarkable species at the top of the world,” Dr. Tracie Seimon of Wildlife Conservation Society’s Zoological Health Program said in an article for Wildlife Conservation Society. Future research will help determine exactly how many Pallas’s cats are living on Mount Everest, and will help protect them so they can continue to live their best lives.
